Deputy Section Chief for the Flight Systems Section

About the Flight Systems Section

The Flight Systems Section is organizationally part of FTE (Aviation Technical Unit) but supports all helicopter squadrons at Malmen as well as the Flight School and is part of the technical organization of the flight operator. The technical organization is responsible for Continuing Airworthiness Management (CAMO). We also work with system integrity of flight safety material and flight base material. The section includes system engineers, planning engineers, material planners, and technical accountants. A cheerful team that collaborates daily across professional categories. We work with two helicopter systems, flight safety material, and flight base material.

Main Responsibilities

24.FSS is now seeking a deputy section chief to assist in leading the section. You will support C FSS and are expected to be part of the personnel management while also handling many operational issues regarding regulations, priorities, common routines, etc. You will actively work with systematic flight safety efforts. Develop work methods and ensure that the section's employees have the right conditions to solve their tasks, all within the framework of applicable regulations.

We belong to the FTE organization but are functionally led by the flight staff.

Qualifications:

  • Specialist officer
  • Aviation technical experience
  • Good ability to express oneself verbally and in writing in Swedish and English

Personal Qualities

You should have a strong interest in leadership and management. We have many interfaces, so good communication and an agile mind are an advantage. You should be able to work in a structured manner. We live in a world where technology, regulations, people, and wills meet, so one should have an interest in those areas. In the selection process, great importance will be placed on personal qualities, maturity, suitability, and achieved results in previous activities.

Meritorious

  • Specialist officer OR8
  • Helicopter technical experience
  • Experience in continuing airworthiness management or aircraft maintenance service
  • Relevant leadership/management training or experience in personnel management
  • Training in military aviation regulations SE-EMAR 145/EASA 145, SE-EMAR 66, and SE-EMAR part M
  • Driving license B

Employment type: Permanent. The Armed Forces applies a six-month probationary period for those not employed by the authority. Employment rate: Full-time. Work location: Linköping, Malmslätt. Business trips may occur, both nationally and internationally. Start date: 2026-02-31 or by agreement.

Helicopter support is requested by many, for example for personnel, material, or medical transport, command, reconnaissance, or surveillance missions. The Helicopter Wing often participates in missions and exercises with other units but also supports society in various crisis situations.

Operating throughout Sweden, the breadth of tasks and the size of the wing with over 950 employees provide variety in work and opportunities for personal development. The majority of the Helicopter Wing is located in Linköping (Malmen), where we also manage Malmen Airport and Linköping Garrison, with two large units in Luleå (Kallax) and Ronneby (Kallinge).
