Special Helicopter Group (SHG)
The Special Helicopter Group (SHG) is a special operations unit within the Swedish Armed Forces' special forces system (FMSF) located at the Helicopter Wing in Linköping. SHG's primary tasks are tactical transport, intelligence gathering, and air support. Like other units within FMSF, SHG has high demands for availability from specially selected personnel, with extensive operational experience and high levels of education and competence.
About the position
The role of Communication Officer at SHG is varied and takes place at different tempos, situations, and environments. Your main tasks will be to support the unit with communication/IT capabilities. You will help maintain the unit's various command support systems, assist with signal protection services, train on the unit's various communication systems, and be an integral part of planning and follow-up of missions, etc. In the long term, you will have the opportunity to deepen and develop your skills in various special areas. Travel within and outside of Sweden occurs frequently in daily service.
Main responsibilities
- Be responsible for the unit's command support systems
- Be responsible for the unit's mobile command support capabilities and platforms
- Be responsible for and train on the unit's radio equipment
- Assist with signal protection services
Several other tasks will be added, and the work places very high demands on initiative, problem-solving ability, and the willingness to see and understand what needs to be done to develop the function's working methods. The position involves maintaining readiness for national and international operations, sometimes with short notice.
Qualifications
- Approved officer training, OR 6-7
- Good and documented knowledge in technology (IT, communication, radio)
- Swedish citizenship
- Good ability to express oneself in speech and writing in Swedish and English
- Driving license B
- Approved in FM FysS level 2
Meritorious
- Specialist officer training with a focus on command/communication at LedSS or electro at FMTS
- Completed at least one year in a position within command/communication in the Armed Forces
- Signal protection teacher/leader
- Driving license class BE, C, CE
- Military driving certificates
- Previous international service

You should also be prepared to work independently and under your own responsibility. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

The Armed Forces' Helicopter Wing is a unit with both land and sea operational focus that can operate in missions in Sweden and internationally.
Helicopter support is in demand by many. For example, for personnel, material, or medical transport, command, reconnaissance, or surveillance tasks. The Helicopter Wing often participates in missions and exercises with other units but also supports society in various crisis situations.
Operating throughout Sweden, the breadth of tasks and the size of the wing with over 950 employees provide variation in work and opportunities for personal development. The majority of the Helicopter Wing is located in Linköping (Malmen), where we also manage Malmen Airport and Linköping garrison, with two large units in Luleå (Kallax) and Ronneby (Kallinge).
