Special Helicopter Group (SHG)

The Special Helicopter Group (SHG) is a special operations unit within the Swedish Armed Forces' special operations system (FMSF) located at the Helicopter Wing in Linköping. SHG's primary tasks are tactical transport, intelligence gathering, and air support. Like other units within the FMSF, SHG has high demands for availability from specially selected personnel, with extensive operational experience and a high level of training and competence.

About the position

As a TRAINING OFFICER at SHG, you will be part of the unit's training and development section, which consists of several functions. The section's work aims to implement the unit's basic course, facilitate training and exercise assignments, and create conditions for the development of tactics, methods, and equipment.

Main responsibilities

• Participate as an instructor in the unit's basic course
• Support the unit through planning and conducting other training and exercises
• Assist the unit during exercise or operational activities

The composition of the section and its extensive activities lead to significant variation in daily duties, where your ability to adapt and openness to new tasks are crucial. The position involves maintaining readiness for national and international operations, sometimes with short notice.

Qualifications

• Officer SO 6-7 or OF 1-2
• Approved according to FM FysS, level 2
• Driver's license class B
• Good ability to express oneself in speech and writing in Swedish and English
• Instructor SUSA/FUSA
• Instructor for soldier-carried weapons (carbine, pistol, KSP, PV)

Meritorious

• Instructor for support weapons
• Medical instructor, CLS or other advanced medical training
• Experience of fieldwork/explosive service
• Winter instructor
• Sensor instructor
• Communication instructor
• Grenade throwing leader
• Additional driving licenses such as ATV, snowmobile, driver's license class C
• Previous international service

Helicopter support is requested by many, for example for personnel, material, or medical transport, command, reconnaissance, or surveillance missions. Therefore, the Helicopter Wing often participates in missions and exercises with other units but also supports society in various crisis situations.
