Special Helicopter Group (SHG)
The Special Helicopter Group (SHG) is a special operations unit within the Swedish Armed Forces' special operations system (FMSF) located at the Helicopter Wing in Linköping. SHG's primary tasks are tactical transport, intelligence gathering, and air support. Like other units within FMSF, SHG has high demands for availability from specially selected personnel, with extensive operational experience and a high level of training and competence.
About the Position
As the head of the staff and logistics platoon at SHG, you will be part of the unit's base company. You will be responsible for a newly established staff and logistics platoon that ensures SHG can maintain high readiness and deliver high operational effectiveness. In this position, you will lead operations in medical care, vehicle repair, fuel supply, ammunition supply, communication, and IT. You will collaborate closely with all of the unit's logisticians and be responsible for many vital competencies regarding the unit's base capabilities. Your daily work will be varied and challenging; no day is like the other. You will work in changing environments, both in peacetime and during exercises and missions, where your ability to lead personnel and operations under pressure will be crucial.
Main Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the platoon's operations and personnel.
- Plan and conduct training for the platoon's personnel.
- Establish and develop the platoon's tactical and operational capabilities.
- Ensure the unit's grouping regarding establishment and operation during exercises and missions.
- Contribute to the development of the war unit, your own company, and your own function.
Several other tasks will be added, and the work places very high demands on initiative, problem-solving ability, and a willingness to see and understand what needs to be done. A flexible mindset and a strong sense of service will be necessary. The position involves maintaining readiness for national and international operations, in some cases with short notice.
Qualifications
- Specialist officer training with approved grades.
- Good ability to express oneself in speech and writing in Swedish and English.
- Approved according to FM FysS.
- Driver's license class B.
- Swedish citizenship.
Meritorious
- Degree from the FM Logistics School.
- Leadership of air base units platoon/company or equivalent.
- Work within the framework of platoon/company leadership in logistics units.
- Good knowledge of SAP PRIO.
- Previous international service.

- Service-oriented and responsible.
- Initiative and problem-solving ability.
- Resilient and robust with the ability to handle rapid changes.
- Detail-oriented and structured.
- Good collaboration skills while being self-driven.
- Good security awareness.
Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability during the selection tests.

The Armed Forces Helicopter Wing is a unit with both land and sea operational orientation that can operate in missions in Sweden and internationally.
Helicopter support is requested by many. For example, for personnel, material, or medical transport, command, reconnaissance, or surveillance missions. The Helicopter Wing therefore often participates in missions and exercises with other units but also as support to society in various crisis situations.
Our operations span across Sweden, the breadth of tasks, and the size of the wing with over 950 employees provide variety in work and opportunities for personal development. The majority of the Helicopter Wing is located in Linköping (Malmen), where we also manage Malmen Airport and Linköping Garrison, with two large units in Luleå (Kallax) and Ronneby (Kallinge).
