Special Helicopter Group (SHG)

The Special Helicopter Group (SHG) is a special operations unit within the Swedish Armed Forces' special operations system (FMSF), located at the Helicopter Wing in Linköping. SHG's primary tasks are tactical transport, intelligence gathering, and air support. Like other units within FMSF, SHG has high demands for availability, personnel with extensive operational experience, and a high level of training and competence. All personnel have voluntarily applied to SHG, are specially selected, and trained together with the Special Operations Group (SOG) and other units from FMSF.

About the Position

As a mission specialist (US) at the Special Helicopter Group, you will be part of a division whose task is to support with helicopter resources in various situations and changing climates within the framework of FMSF operations. In your flying duties, you may hold several different roles such as door gunner, medic, surface rescuer, and photographer. You will operate as part of a crew and will develop your skills in various special areas over time.

Several other diverse tasks will be added, and the work places high demands on initiative, problem-solving ability, and the willingness to see and understand what needs to be done to increase the unit's efficiency and capability. Frequent travel within and outside of Sweden occurs in daily service.

Qualifications

• Completed GFU KB HKP or equivalent training on HKP16
• Completed SOU
• Approved according to FM FysS including additional test level 3
• Good ability to express oneself verbally and in writing in Swedish and English
• Driving license class B

Meritorious

• Completed international service
• Training instructions for Transport Flight Passengers/Internal Cargo/Medical Transport/Patrol HKP16
• Combat Life Saver training - TCCC or equivalent
• Sniper/Sharpshooter training
• MSS Basic Course Firing training
• Other language skills
• PPE inspector

The work requires you to be very proactive and have the ability to independently identify and solve problems. As a person, you are unpretentious, social, and service-oriented with the entire unit's results in focus. You have the ability to quickly adapt and solve your tasks, even in stressful situations.
