Special Helicopter Group (SHG)

is a special operations unit within the Swedish Armed Forces' special forces system (FMSF) located at the Helicopter Wing in Linköping. SHG's primary tasks are tactical transport, intelligence gathering, and air support. Like other units within FMSF, SHG has high demands for availability from specially selected personnel, with extensive operational experience and a high level of training and competence.

About the Position

As PLATOON LEADER AIR MAINTENANCE at SHG, you will hold the role of first-line manager for a platoon consisting of helicopter technicians, assistant mechanics, material technicians, and material mechanics. The platoon is part of the unit's air maintenance company. The company includes several supporting functions, including air maintenance, aviation material, and flight safety material.

The main tasks are to plan, coordinate, and supervise the execution of air and material maintenance services for the aircraft system (helicopter 16) used within the unit. This is done in close collaboration with the company commander, Deputy Platoon Leader, and the S4 section in the squadron's staff. The platoon leader role carries significant responsibility for ensuring the personnel and material resources required to maintain the prescribed readiness of the platoon.

Main Responsibilities

• Act as the employer representative for the air maintenance platoon.
• Lead personnel services in the platoon, both nationally and internationally, during exercises and missions.
• Lead, coordinate, and develop the own work team in the short and long term.
• Maintain and develop military skills both individually and within the platoon.
• Be prepared to support preparations and work within the S4 function.

Several other tasks will be added, and the work places very high demands on initiative, problem-solving ability, and the willingness to see and understand what needs to be done to develop the function's working methodology. The position involves maintaining readiness for national and international operations, in some cases with short notice.

Qualifications

• Officer, OF 1-2.
• Approved according to FM FysS.
• Driver's license class B.
• Good ability to express oneself in speech and writing in Swedish and English.
• Swedish citizenship.

Meritorious

• Officer training with a military technical profile.
• Aviation mechanic certificate according to Cat A.
• Aviation technician certificate according to Cat B1.
• Previous experience working in leadership positions within air maintenance at platoon, company, or staff level.
• Driver's license class BE, C, CE.
• Military driving license.
• Previous international service.
