Special Helicopter Group (SHG)
The Special Helicopter Group (SHG) is a special operations unit within the Swedish Armed Forces' special operations system (FMSF) located at the Helicopter Wing in Linköping. SHG's primary tasks are to provide FMSF operational units with tactical transport capability and air support. Like other units within FMSF, SHG has high demands for availability from specially selected personnel and a service that requires operational experience as well as educational and competency levels.
About the Position
As an OPERATIONS OFFICER at SHG, you will support the leadership of the unit's execution section, which consists of several integrated functions. The section's main tasks are to plan, coordinate, and oversee the execution of both live operations in close cooperation with other units from FMSF and advanced training activities to be ready for missions, both nationally and internationally. In addition, the section is also responsible for planning, coordinating, and leading the unit's regular training activities.
Main Responsibilities
- Support the S3/5 chief in leading the unit's ongoing operations during exercises and missions, as well as coordinating the squadron's various functions within the framework of C SHG's direction and decisions.
- During exercises and missions, occasionally be part of a combined staff with other parts of FMSF.
- Participate in the section's cooperation with a wide range of contacts – within your own organization, FMSF, other parts of the Armed Forces, and external parties.

The position involves readiness for national and international operations and includes a relatively high degree of travel, both within and outside Sweden's borders.
Qualifications
- OF 1-2 or SO 6-7
- Approved according to FM FysS
- Driver's license class B
- Good ability to express oneself verbally and in writing in Swedish and English
- Swedish citizenship.
Meritorious
- Previous experience of working in company or squadron leadership
- Previous staff experience at tactical or operational level
- Other language skills
- Experience regarding military aviation
- Previous international service
- Additional driver's license qualifications

The Armed Forces Helicopter Wing is a unit with both land and naval operational focus that can operate in missions in Sweden and internationally.
Helicopter support is requested by many, for example for personnel, material, or medical transports, command, reconnaissance, or surveillance missions. The Helicopter Wing often participates in missions and exercises with other units but also as support to society in various crisis situations.
Our operations span across Sweden, and the breadth of tasks and the size of the wing with over 950 employees provide variation in work and opportunities for personal development. The majority of the Helicopter Wing is located in Linköping (Malmen), where we also manage Malmen Airport and Linköping garrison, with two large units in Luleå (Kallax) and Ronneby (Kallinge).
