Employees in the field of Nursing work in both basic education, nursing programs, and at advanced levels.

At the advanced level, three specialist nursing programs are offered; focusing on health and medical care for children and youth, focusing on district nursing, and focusing on psychiatric care. Additionally, a specialist training for ambulances is planned. The subject also offers master's and master's programs in nursing with the possibility of a master's and doctoral degree, as well as doctoral education in the field of nursing.

The subject has a vibrant research environment focusing on health-promoting and sustainable nursing, as well as professional development for sustainable nursing.

The subject is located at both campuses Östersund and Sundsvall.

Job Responsibilities

University lecturers are part of the subject collegium and research collegium responsible for, and making decisions about, the development of programs and courses at the undergraduate, advanced, and doctoral levels. The position as a university lecturer includes teaching, seminar activities, supervision, examination, and research. The position also includes contributing to the research environment, actively participating in collaboration with the surrounding community, and disseminating research information. As a university lecturer, there is an opportunity to undergo research supervisor training and to be a co-supervisor for doctoral students.

The position includes time for professional development and administrative time according to applicable working time agreements and local guidelines.

Eligibility

Qualified for employment as a university lecturer is one who has demonstrated pedagogical skill, has obtained a doctoral degree or has equivalent scientific competence or has other professional skills that are significant in relation to the content and tasks of the position.

Qualified to be employed as a university lecturer in nursing is one who is a licensed nurse and has obtained a doctoral degree in nursing or equivalent.

For eligibility as a university lecturer, a higher education pedagogical training of at least 15 higher education credits or at least 10 weeks of full-time studies is required; if this is lacking, the employed university lecturer must achieve this within two years from the time of employment.

Other Requirements

Good knowledge of the Swedish language in speech and writing is a requirement.

Ability to handle digital programs such as Word, PowerPoint, and the current learning platform is a requirement.

The personal qualities required for the position are good collaboration skills, flexibility, independence, communication skills, and the ability to structure and organize.

Assessment Criteria

The assessment criteria for the employment of a lecturer should be the degree of such skill that is a requirement for eligibility for the position. Equal care is given to the assessment of pedagogical skills as well as scientific skills.

It is particularly meritorious to hold a specialist nursing degree.

Meritorious if there is a research focus on health and medical care for children and youth, good and close care, ambulance, or psychiatric care.

Meritorious is experience in clinical supervision of nurses and completed supervisor training.

Processing

The preparation of the employment follows the forms specified in Chapter 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance and proceeds in accordance with here (https://www.miun.se/medarbetare/styrdokument/ny-styrning-planering-och-uppfoljning/Personal/Anstalla-personal/?item=311447).

Employment and Start Date

The employment is a permanent full-time position with a start date of 2026-09-01 or by agreement. The employment requires regular attendance at the Östersund campus.
