Welcome to us!

Ås School is a F-9 school with about 500 students. We have about 220 children enrolled in the after-school program across our 5 departments. The qualifications are high among both teachers and after-school staff. We work closely together to create holistic solutions for the students. The work is based on the student's potential for development and learning throughout the day. Both teachers and after-school staff work with PAX in the school to promote safety and study focus and undergo training in the area of motivation for learning. The preschool class has newly built facilities that are well adapted for learning and play.

The Child and Education Administration has about 800 employees. The administration's activities extend across the entire municipality and include preschool, primary school F-9, adapted primary school, after-school programs, food and cleaning services, mother tongue, and library services.

A Day as a Preschool Class Teacher at Ås School

Learning can happen in many ways, and all students are different and have different needs. You will constantly receive immediate feedback on your efforts in the form of curious questions, raised eyebrows, laughter, and discussions that arise.

Teaching and stimulating students based on municipal and national goals is the main task of the job. Inspiring, motivating, and sparking curiosity in students to seek the knowledge they need is another important part of the job, as well as supporting students in their personal development so that they can function socially in society.

Other important tasks in the profession include identifying development needs and driving the development of the activities towards set goals and contributing to the school's development. There are great opportunities for you to use your knowledge and experience to further develop the working methods of the organization together with your colleagues.

Your Competence

For the position, you must be a certified teacher for grades F-3.

You have the empathetic ability to understand students' needs and meet them where they are, as well as to listen, encourage, stimulate, and challenge them to develop further.

To thrive in the role, you see the team as a resource, and it is natural for you to positively contribute to solving common tasks. We place great importance on your interest in participating in development work and your ability to collaborate.

You are well acquainted with the school's governing documents and can implement them in your daily work.

Permanent employment at 100% starting August 12, 2026.
