Job Responsibilities

https://www.kth.se/tekmek/institutionen-for-teknisk-mekanik-1.1204789 conducts fundamental and applied research in biomechanics, composite mechanics, fluid mechanics, contact mechanics, fracture mechanics, fatigue, material mechanics, and paper mechanics. Applied research is conducted in collaboration with industry and public actors.

The project focuses on numerical simulations of elastoinertial turbulence with particles.

Through a project funded by https://erc.europa.eu/homepage and https://e-science.se/, we aim to improve the modeling of elastoinertial turbulence at low Reynolds numbers. As part of the project, we are now advertising a postdoctoral position involving high-performance fluid mechanics calculations of the problem.

Within the project, you will work closely with the Complex Fluids Research Group at KTH, where other researchers conduct both numerical simulations and experiments in the field and have the opportunity to collaborate with other researchers within SeRC and FLOW, as well as our international networks in several ongoing national and EU projects, primarily in the fluid mechanics of non-Newtonian materials and multiphase flows.

Qualifications

Requirements

• PhD degree or foreign degree in numerical calculations of fluid mechanics or similar that is assessed to be equivalent to a PhD. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled by the time the employment decision is made.
• Scientific proficiency
• Strong motivation for research

Meritorious

• No more than three years since the PhD degree or a foreign degree assessed to be equivalent to a PhD at the time of the application deadline.
• Documented experience in high-performance fluid mechanics calculations on computing clusters and development of codes for the same.
• Documented experience in simulating non-Newtonian flows within turbulence, particle suspensions, and elastoinertial problems is highly meritorious.
• Teaching ability
• Awareness of diversity and equal treatment issues with a particular focus on gender equality
• Ability to collaborate
• Independence
• Good knowledge of English, both written and spoken as it is used in daily work.
