PhD Position in Social Work with Comorbidity
The Department of Social Work hereby announces a PhD position focusing on social work with comorbidity between substance use problems and mental health issues.
The position is fully funded for 4 years, located at the Department of Social Work.
The Department of Social Work is a large and creative workplace with extensive undergraduate education and training at the master's and doctoral levels. We also conduct very successful research, with a focus on areas central to social work; child and family, substance use, welfare issues, and care for the elderly and disabled.
More information about us can be found at: https://www.su.se/enheter/institutionen-for-socialt-arbete (https://www.su.se/enheter/institutionen-for-socialt-arbete).
Project Description
The position is part of the research project https://www.su.se/forskning/forskningskatalog/forskningsprojekt/2/socialt-arbete-med-samsjuklighet-sams-en-fallstudie-om-klienter-med-komplexa-vardbehov (https://www.su.se/forskning/forskningskatalog/forskningsprojekt/2/socialt-arbete-med-samsjuklighet-sams-en-fallstudie-om-klienter-med-komplexa-vardbehov) funded by Forte. The aim of the project is to examine the development and implementation of working methods aimed at improving the living conditions for individuals with concurrent substance use problems and mental health issues without the requirement of total sobriety (so-called harm reduction), in light of the upcoming comorbidity reform. An important perspective is how individuals with comorbidity themselves understand such working methods and their significance for health and well-being. Through interviews with users, staff, and various external actors, the relationship between theory, practice, and professional boundaries in concrete social work with comorbidity within a specialized treatment system is highlighted. The project is expected to contribute directly applicable knowledge about a transforming practice field.
