About the Unit
31st Ranger Battalion is a light conventional ranger unit tasked with supporting the Swedish Armed Forces' special forces.
The defining profile for the battalion is primarily the ability to conduct rapid movements and foot combat with carried weapon systems. The battalion is well-trained and has developed methods to solve these tasks in cooperation with helicopter and transport aviation units.
The battalion operates in task-adapted combat groups over large areas and often in a different direction than other units, which places high demands on the personnel's physical and mental capabilities. This further imposes significant requirements on individual soldier skills as well as the ability to prioritize the mission and the group over personal needs. In addition to soldier skills, good teamwork, initiative, and high stress tolerance are prerequisites for the ranger soldier to operate effectively in all situations.
In 2028, the 31st Ranger Battalion has been tasked with contributing to the NATO mission, Forward Land Forces (FLF) Latvia / LNLV (land NATO Latvia).
The battalion's continuously serving components consist of:
- Battalion Staff
- Ranger Support Squadron (Command Platoon, Logistics Platoon, Reconnaissance Platoon, GRK Platoon, and Medical Platoon)
- Ranger Squadron (Three Ranger Platoons and a Headquarters & Support Platoon)
Main Duties
As a ranger electronic warfare soldier, you will be part of an electronic warfare group. All soldiers in the group are trained and operate the group's technical collection systems, with the collection aimed at supporting the battalion's decision-making. The group must be able to operate independently and solve tasks for extended periods, which places high demands on both your mental and physical combat readiness, as well as your initiative and flexibility as a person.
