Deputy Platoon Leader at the Sensor Platoon

314 Air Base Security Company is part of the 31 Air Base Battalion at the Helicopter Wing, Malmen. The company consists of air base security platoons, a sensor platoon, and a dog unit. The main task of the company is to detect, locate, identify, and counter security threats against the air combat forces. The Air Base Security Company is part of the 31 Air Base Battalion, whose main tasks are the operation of the Malmen air base, operation of a mobile air base, and basic training of conscripts.

Main Responsibilities

As the deputy platoon leader at the Sensor Platoon, you will work in a changing environment where material and method development is initially the focus. The Sensor Platoon is the core of the Helicopter Wing's development work with unmanned systems. Initially, you will deepen your knowledge of the technical systems available in the platoon. In your role, you will be a system expert, instructor, and together with the platoon leader, lead and plan the operations. This includes planning, execution, follow-up, and evaluation in several areas, where the main focus is on RPAS flight operations, C-UAS activities, and collection with other sensors. The platoon also solves basic tasks within combat and security service. Collaboration with other units is common, which places high demands on good cooperation skills.

In the war organization, you will serve in a position determined in consultation with the commander based on your own competence, experience, and the needs of the unit.

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

  • Completed specialist officer training
  • Driving license B
  • Swedish citizenship

Medical Requirements

  • Good visual acuity, correction allowed
  • Good color vision

Meritorious

  • Previous service in security units
  • Previous work within RPAS/SUAV
  • Previous work within C-UAS or electronic warfare
  • Work with other sensor systems
  • Driver's license or military driver's license for heavy vehicles
  • Good ability to express oneself verbally and in writing in Swedish and English

Personal Qualities

As a deputy platoon leader, we see that you easily collaborate with people and have a good ability to communicate. You demonstrate a strong commitment to the platoon's capability development and take the initiative to drive operations forward. We would also like you to have some technical understanding and an interest in relevant areas. You are also confident in the role of instructor. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

The Swedish Armed Forces Helicopter Wing is a unit with both land and maritime operational focus that can operate in missions in Sweden and internationally.

Helicopter support is requested by many, for example for personnel, material, or medical transport, command, reconnaissance, or surveillance missions. The Helicopter Wing often participates in missions and exercises with other units but also as support to society in various crisis situations.
