Our Operations

Do you want to be a key person in Värmdö Municipality's work with budget, governance, and future economic conditions? As a Budget Strategist, you belong to the Finance Department, which is part of the Municipal Executive Office.

Here, you will play a central role in the municipality's financial work and be responsible for driving, coordinating, and developing the budget process – from forecasts and documentation to decisions in committees and the municipal council. You will work closely with both the management of the administration and the political organization, reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer.

Your Assignment

You will be the hub of the budget year and be responsible for delivering:

Deliverables

  • Budget conditions
  • Goals and budget
  • Documentation and analyses related to financial capacity, revenues, financial management, pension forecasts, tax base forecasts.
  • Coordinate and analyze population forecasts as a basis for the budget process and strategic business development.
  • Coordination of all documents and materials in the budget process

Activities – Internal to the Administration

  • Development of a timeline and activity plan
  • Documentation for the administration's priorities
  • Updating of financial capacity and revenue documentation
  • Ongoing dialogue with operations in the administration

Activities – Political

  • Coordination of political activities related to the budget
  • Updating of capacity and budget tools
  • Handling of questions and documentation for the political side

Dependencies and Collaboration

You will work closely with several functions, including:

  • Municipal-wide monitoring and forecasting work
  • T1 and T2 processes as well as annual reports
  • Population forecasts
  • Financial management (budget, monitoring, approval, and as an approver)

Your Experience

We are looking for someone who is confident in their knowledge and as a person, and who enjoys a role where you can combine analysis, structure, and collaboration. We see that you have an excellent ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing. You enjoy working together with others and appreciate being a part of – and sometimes leading – a team.

Qualifications

  • Academic education in economics or other education that the employer deems equivalent.
  • University degree in economics
  • Experience in budget work and financial monitoring, preferably within a politically governed municipal organization
  • Experience working with tax base forecasts and population forecasts

Meritorious: Experience with resource allocation models and previous experience from municipal operations
