The Unit for Health and Civil Society at the Ministry of Social Affairs consists of approximately 30 employees and works with policy areas that promote good living conditions in Sweden. The unit is responsible for issues related to public health, mental health and psychiatry, dental care, alcohol, narcotics, tobacco, doping, health protection, and infection control, civil society, sports, religious communities, and youth issues. The unit is also responsible for the governance of the Public Health Agency, the National Board of Health and Welfare, and the Agency for Youth and Civil Society Issues. The unit is characterized by team spirit and a development-oriented approach. We work together to make people's lives a little better every day.

The Infection Control and Health Protection and Dental Care group consists of about 10 employees and is responsible for legislation in the dental care area, infection control area, vaccination programs, health protection issues, work against antibiotic resistance, preparedness for cross-border health threats, and the management of COVID-19. The group is also responsible for the governance of the Public Health Agency.

Responsibilities in the role of case officer for dental care issues:

• develop and analyze materials for the government's positions on the unit's issues, focusing on dental care,
• participate in coordinating efforts related to the unit's issues, focusing on dental care,
• be involved in EU cooperation and international collaboration on the unit's issues,
• draft bills, letters, and departmental letters (DS),
• work within the framework of the government's governance of authorities, and
• contribute to budget-related work.

Your Background

We are looking for someone with a completed academic education in social sciences, law, natural sciences, or another relevant field. You have current and relevant experience for the position from working in the Government Offices or another government agency. You have also worked with administrative or investigative tasks within the dental care area. Knowledge of the Swedish dental care system, a good understanding of the requirements for working in a politically governed organization, and an understanding of the role and function of the Government Offices are also required.

It is an advantage if you have worked with the legislative process, worked with the government's governance of authorities, and have experience in the Government Offices.

Very good knowledge of Swedish and good knowledge of English in both speech and writing are required for the position.

As a case officer for dental care issues with us, you need to be able to work under pressure, handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and take initiative. It is important that you are quality-conscious, structured, and judicious. You need to be able to quickly understand and analyze complex issues and make quick decisions. You should thrive in an environment where your longer-term and strategic work is combined with quick requests with short delivery times.
