The Unit for Health and Civil Society at the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs comprises about 30 employees and works with policy areas that promote good living conditions in Sweden. The unit is responsible for issues related to public health, mental health and psychiatry, dental care, alcohol, narcotics, tobacco, doping, health protection and infection control, civil society, sports, religious communities, and youth issues. The unit is also responsible for the governance of the Public Health Agency, the State's Medical and Social Evaluation Board, and the Agency for Youth and Civil Society Issues. The unit is characterized by team spirit and a development-oriented working method. We work together to make people's lives a little better every day.

The group for infection and health protection and dental care consists of about 10 employees and is responsible for legislation in the field of dental care, infection control, vaccination programs, health protection issues, work against antibiotic resistance, preparedness for cross-border health threats, and the management of COVID-19. The group is also responsible for the governance of the Public Health Agency.

Responsibilities in the role of case officer for issues related to infection control and health threat preparedness:

  • develop and analyze materials for the government's positions on issues related to infection control and health threat preparedness,
  • participate in coordinating efforts related to infection control and health threat preparedness,
  • be involved in EU cooperation and international collaboration on issues related to infection control and health threat preparedness,
  • draft bills, letters, and departmental letters (DS),
  • work within the framework of the government's governance of authorities, and
  • contribute to budget-related work.

Your background

We are looking for someone with a completed academic education in social sciences, law, natural sciences, or other relevant education. You have current and relevant experience for the position in independent societal-oriented investigative work within the Government Offices or another government agency, as well as experience in case management or investigative work related to infectious diseases. Furthermore, you need to have knowledge regarding infection control, health threat preparedness, and a good understanding of the requirements for working in a politically governed organization and an understanding of the role and function of the Government Offices.

It is advantageous if you have experience working with cross-sectoral issues that involve multiple units and departments, as well as work with the government's governance of authorities. If you have knowledge of epidemiology and the organization, tools, and methods of health care and infection control, this is also advantageous.

The employment is a temporary position until September/October 2026. A security clearance will be conducted before a decision on employment is made.
