Investigator for the Authority Department
Stockholm – our capital city with millions of dreams, expectations, and ambitions. We work for everyone living here today and in the future. We are now looking for someone who wants to think big, new, and differently with us – for the people of Stockholm.
The Preschool Administration is a young administration with a wealth of knowledge and expertise that builds the future. Tens of thousands of children attend preschools in Stockholm. Their everyday lives and their future are our mission. We strive for the best possible preschool, which is why we maintain contact with all those who operate preschools in Stockholm's eleven districts – whether they are municipal or privately run.
Currently, we have nearly 80 employees working in various areas of expertise such as supervision and licensing, law, finance, and development in all areas of preschool. We offer a workplace with great engagement and good opportunities to influence your work. Our office is located on Kaplansbacken in Kungsholmen.
Welcome to us
You will work in the Authority Department, which is one of four departments.
The Authority Department's mission is growing, and we are now looking for a qualified investigator for the supervision of independent preschools and pedagogical care.
In the Authority Department, there are two units responsible for licensing independent preschools and pedagogical care in private management, as well as for supervising that individuals approved by the municipality continuously meet the requirements. The department's mission includes ensuring that independent operators running preschools in the municipality meet the requirements for suitability, insight, and financial conditions. In addition, investigations of additional funding and reports are conducted. The department employs lawyers, preschool teachers, economists, and political scientists.
The department's work is carried out in accordance with processes to contribute to effective, legally secure, and clear administrative actions.
We offer
An important mission where we work together for the city's preschool children. As an employee of the City of Stockholm, you will have the opportunity to connect with competent colleagues and enjoy several benefits such as flexible working hours, wellness grants, and the option to exchange vacation day supplements for extra time off. Read more about our benefits here.
Your role
As an investigator, you will conduct supervision of independent preschools and privately run pedagogical care based on the Education Act. The supervision involves reviewing documentation related to operations, planning and conducting operational visits and interviews with operators, principals, and staff, analyzing materials, and writing supervision decisions. The investigative work is carried out in close collaboration with other professionals, such as lawyers and economists, regarding assessments and owner and management reviews. You will communicate the results and assessments of the supervision to the reviewed preschools and operators in writing and orally. You should be able to provide guidance at an appropriate level to the operations. You will also participate in other common tasks such as responding to referrals and writing official statements. A significant part of the work is conducted using digital tools, so you need to feel comfortable working digitally.
Your qualifications and experience
We are looking for someone who has:
- relevant academic degree in law and/or economics, political science, or another education that the employer deems relevant for the assignment
- current experience of supervision in public operations
- current experience of administrative actions
- digital maturity regarding the use of, for example, the Office package
- very good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish
It is an advantage if you have:
- experience of administrative actions related to preschool/school
- experience in school law
We are looking for someone who can collect, sort, and analyze complex information. You work in a structured manner, which means you plan, organize, and prioritize your work effectively while setting and adhering to deadlines. Your communication skills are a strength, both verbally and in writing. You have good collaboration skills and an open, accommodating, and problem-solving approach. We appreciate that you enjoy the combination of working independently and collaborating with others. You are open to improving and developing routines and working methods.
Other
To match the right competence to the right job, we use tests. Research shows that psychological tests, such as personality and ability tests, are among the best methods. We strive for a non-discriminatory, comparable, and objective recruitment process where psychological tests are a complement to the overall assessment. You applying for a job with us should feel secure that we focus on assessing the competencies that are crucial for the job you have applied for. The City of Stockholm works with competence-based recruitment aimed at recognizing each person's competence and thus counteracting discrimination.
