Helicopter Wing is looking for a Section Chief for the Planning Section (A3)

The Helicopter Wing is seeking a Section Chief for the Planning Section (A3) at the Helicopter Wing Staff in Linköping (Malmen).

A3 is responsible for the management of unit production within the Helicopter Wing as well as for the wing's operational and readiness assignments. You will operate in a central function with close ties to operational management, where the Planning Section is responsible for the medium-term planning for the unit.

Main Responsibilities

As a Section Chief, you will primarily work with:

  • Leading and being responsible for the Planning Section and its personnel
  • Cooperating with the units within the Helicopter Wing and, if necessary, with other units and civilian authorities
  • Leading and coordinating efforts and activities within the framework of the wing's assignments
  • Receiving, processing, and preparing incoming matters
  • Preparing decision-making materials for the unit commander
  • Participating in the work of war planning and war unit evaluation
  • Possibly serving as Duty Officer (VB) within the wing's readiness organization
  • Actively participating in A3's staff work
  • Being part of the staff during planning and execution of exercises and operations

Qualifications

  • Officer (OF2)
  • Very good ability to express oneself in speech and writing in Swedish and English
  • Good computer skills, especially within Microsoft 365
  • Driving license B
  • Good experience working in the Armed Forces' operational management system (PRIO)

To lead and distribute work within the section, we expect you to have very good analytical skills.

You have the ability to lead and drive work independently, while also being able to see the big picture and understand how individual details contribute to the overall result. For this position, resilience, structure, and problem-solving ability are central qualities.

You are security-conscious, responsible, and have a well-developed sense of order. As a person, you are positive, outgoing, and enjoy working both independently and in a group, as well as creating and maintaining contacts both internally and externally.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

Meritorious

  • Knowledge of helicopter operations, preferably with a background in aviation and/or aircraft maintenance
  • Tactical officer with a background in ground and/or combat operations
  • Experience in staff service
  • Experience from aviation units
  • Previous service as CPA (chief with personnel responsibility)
  • International service

Employment type: Permanent employment starting with a six-month probationary period

The Armed Forces' Helicopter Wing is a unit with both land and maritime operational focus that can operate in missions in Sweden and internationally.

Helicopter support is requested by many, for example for personnel, material, or medical transport, command, reconnaissance, or surveillance missions. The Helicopter Wing often participates in assignments and exercises with other units but also as support to society in various crisis situations.

Our operations span across Sweden, the variety of tasks, and the size of the wing with over 950 employees provide variation in work and opportunities for personal development. The majority of the Helicopter Wing is located in Linköping (Malmen), where we also manage Malmen Airport and Linköping Garrison, with two large units in Luleå (Kallax) and Ronneby (Kallinge).
