We are looking for a PhD candidate to work on the NUCLEAR project (Advanced Nuclear Technology Laboratory) within the NuMaP (Nuclear Materials Platform) (https://www.kth.se/numap (https://www.kth.se/numap)) research platform to develop the laboratory environment and to work with modeling and experiments on advanced nuclear materials. NuMaP connects KTH, Luleå University of Technology, Uppsala University, Linköping University, and Chalmers with the nuclear industry in Sweden and is funded by the Swedish Energy Agency. The student will be part of a multidisciplinary team of researchers and students.

The PhD candidate will participate in several sub-projects within NuMaP but will focus on additive manufacturing of advanced nuclear materials such as aluminum-forming steels and nuclear fuel, as well as modeling and measuring transport properties in the materials.

Supervision: Professor Pär Olsson is proposed to supervise the PhD candidate in collaboration with other researchers. Decisions will be made upon admission.

Eligibility for Admission: To be admitted to doctoral education (Chapter 7, Section 39 of the Higher Education Ordinance), the applicant must have basic eligibility:

• completed a degree at the advanced level, or
• fulfilled course requirements of at least 240 higher education credits, of which at least 60 higher education credits at the advanced level, or
• acquired substantially equivalent knowledge in some other way, in Sweden or abroad.

Information on Admission and Employment: Only those who have been admitted to doctoral education may be employed as PhD candidates. The total employment period may not exceed what corresponds to full-time doctoral education for four years. An employed PhD candidate may, to a limited extent (maximum 20%), perform certain tasks within, e.g., education and administration. A new employment as a PhD candidate is valid for a maximum of one year, and the employment may then be renewed for a maximum of two years at a time.
