Project Description
Research Subject: Geodesy and Geoinformatics
We are looking for a PhD candidate for the project "Efficiency of Track Measurement," funded by the Swedish Transport Administration.
The main purpose of the project is to design and evaluate GNSS measurement methods that meet the requirements for determining track position. See more detailed project description here (https://intra.kth.se/2.23536/forskning/pagaende-project/effektivisering-av-sparmatning-1.1433300).
The PhD candidate will be placed at the Department of Land Surveying - Real Estate Science and Geodesy and will collaborate with RISE and the Swedish Transport Administration, who are partners in the project. The candidate is expected to have a good knowledge of geodesy (GNSS and reference systems), physics (propagation of electromagnetic signals), and mathematics (statistics).
Supervision: Prof. Milan Horemuz and a representative from the Swedish Transport Administration are proposed to supervise the PhD candidate. A decision will be made upon admission.
Eligibility for Admission
To be admitted to doctoral education (Chapter 7, Section 39 of the Higher Education Ordinance), the applicant must have basic eligibility:
- completed a degree at the advanced level, or
- fulfilled course requirements of at least 240 higher education credits, of which at least 60 higher education credits at the advanced level, or
- acquired equivalent knowledge in some other way, within or outside the country.
The candidate must have good knowledge of Swedish in both spoken and written form as it is required in daily work. The candidate should have a background in geodesy, engineering physics, or another relevant subject.

- maintain a professional attitude, and
- analyze and work with complex issues will be assessed.
Meritorious Qualifications:
- Work experience in the field of geodesy
- Previous experience in academic publishing, participation in research projects, and teaching
- Interest in interdisciplinary collaboration
- Programming skills
After the eligibility requirements, great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities.

Information on Admission and Employment
Only those who have been admitted to doctoral education may be employed as PhD candidates. The total employment period may not exceed what corresponds to full-time doctoral education for four years. An employed PhD candidate may, to a limited extent (maximum 20%), perform certain tasks within, for example, education and administration. A new employment as a PhD candidate is valid for a maximum of one year, and the employment may then be renewed for a maximum of two years at a time. For studies that will conclude with a licentiate degree, the total employment period may not exceed what corresponds to full-time doctoral education for two years.
