Assistant Mechanic for Special Flight Squadron

The Special Flight Squadron conducts flight operations with radar and signal reconnaissance, transport flight activities, aircraft maintenance services, and work to maintain airworthiness. The Special Flight Squadron is a task force that can be deployed at short notice for missions both nationally and internationally.

We are looking for someone who wants to work as an assistant mechanic in the material platoon of the Special Flight Squadron. The position involves a flexible, nuanced, and service-oriented approach where you, together with the troop, form a vital capability to create conditions for the squadron's flights. The position spans several areas but primarily focuses on ensuring that materials and vehicles are operational. Training and exercises are conducted regularly, which entails travel for work and service at other locations.

The Material Platoon

The material platoon is responsible for part of the squadron's logistics and technical support. The platoon mainly handles two areas: 1) storage and material service, and 2) technical maintenance of vehicles and materials. The platoon's activities are directed towards the main task of creating conditions for flights with aircraft 100 and aircraft 102. The platoon is responsible for supplying the squadron with required materials and spare parts during both peace and crisis and war.

Main Responsibilities

Assistant mechanics can perform maintenance, repairs, or corrective maintenance on both materials and vehicles. The position also involves some transportation of materials or vehicles.

The position also includes supporting the storage unit in the platoon with material service (receiving and dispatching goods). In some respects, it also supports other sections of the squadron with technical services.

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

• Completed military service with approved grades
• Driver's license B, manual transmission
• Swedish citizen and approved security and background check.

In the role of assistant mechanic, a willingness to solve assigned tasks is required. You are expected to be a caring, good, and creative team player who can perform even under stress. In addition, you are expected to be meticulous and unpretentious with an eye for detail.

Meritorious

• Experience and competence in aircraft maintenance services, logistics, or technical services
• Experience/competence in the Armed Forces' data systems for aircraft material services
• Experience in maintenance of materials, vehicles, units, etc.
• Military driver's license TLB and trailer
• ADR basic
• Forklift/ wheel loader

Other

Employment type: Fixed-term employment as GSS/K (group leaders, soldiers, and sailors with continuous service) for 6 years with the possibility of extension up to 12 years according to the Act (2012:332) on certain Armed Forces employment. The employment begins with a probationary period of 6 months.

The position requires physical and mental capability, execution of business trips, participation in training and exercises in the war organization. Since both the position and tasks are tied to a war organization, you will also be placed in our organization for war. This means, among other things, that you will receive training in what is expected of you in a heightened state of readiness.
