Lawyer at the Administrative Court in Gothenburg

The Administrative Court in Gothenburg is one of Sweden's largest courts with approximately 280 employees. Our main task is to resolve disputes between individuals and authorities. The Administrative Court is also one of the country's four migration courts.

The court currently has six adjudicating departments, each focusing on one of the major areas of law – tax law or social insurance law. In addition, all adjudicating departments work with migration cases. The administrative department includes the court's case management units, the registration and archive unit, the administrative office unit, and the IT, security, and service unit.

Every day, hundreds of cases and matters are resolved in courts across Sweden. Our organization consists of employees with various competencies, each of whom is significant in maintaining legal certainty and high quality at all levels.

Job Responsibilities

In your role as a lawyer, you will work both with the court's judges (assessors and clerks) and independently to prepare cases for decision. You will work with pure and qualified legal tasks, which include conducting legal investigations, presenting and drafting proposals for judgments and decisions. You will participate in oral hearings where you present the case to the court, take minutes, and provide a proposal for a decision during deliberation. There are also opportunities for individual professional development through training at the Court Academy and internal training at the court.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Law degree. Please attach your diploma to the application.
  • Work experience from qualified legal work.
  • Very good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written.

Notary service is an advantage.

Personal Qualities

We are looking for someone who is a highly skilled lawyer. By this, we mean that you have very good legal knowledge and excellent analytical skills. You have good communication skills and express yourself very well in the Swedish language, both in writing and orally. Your very good judgment is crucial for us.

As a lawyer, you have a central and driving role in working with cases, which requires a great sense of responsibility and a commitment to both quality and efficiency in what you do. We value your attention to detail and your ability to prioritize during busy periods. You find it easy to collaborate with your colleagues at the court while also having a high capacity to work independently.

To be considered for employment, you must meet high standards regarding judgment, security awareness, and suitability. This means that you stand up for democratic values and the state values that govern the operations of Sweden's courts. We require that you follow applicable laws. We place great importance on personal qualities.

Swedish citizenship is a legal requirement.

  • The employment is a permanent position that may begin with a six-month probationary period.
