At the Community Building Office, about 200 people work to make Sigtuna Municipality an attractive, vibrant, and safe place to live and work. We plan new residential and business areas. We design and build roads and utilities for water and sewage. We take care of parks and forests as well as schoolyards, preschool yards, and playgrounds. We work with traffic issues, parking supervision, waste management, and much more. We handle regulatory enforcement and conduct supervision and control, as well as issue permits within our areas. We invest in our employees through good resources for professional development and joint activities. Sigtuna Municipality is an expanding municipality with extensive housing construction, many business establishments, and investments in public spaces.

The Department of Building Permits and Environmental Protection consists of 45 dedicated employees working for a sustainable environment, handling building permits, safe food, and clean water. We have a high ceiling and are close to laughter, even though the pace of work can sometimes be high.

The department consists of three units: the food unit, the building permit unit, and the environmental and health protection unit.

The workplace is located in Märsta, conveniently commutable from both Stockholm and Uppsala.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Are you an inspector looking to work at a service-oriented authority in a municipality with great diversity?

As an environmental and health protection inspector with us, you will have many contacts with business operators and the business community throughout the municipality, as well as with colleagues from other units within the municipal organization. You will handle incoming cases and conduct supervision according to the Environmental Code. You will plan the supervision work independently, handle cases, and conduct inspection visits.

In this role, you will meet business operators and private individuals in matters related to health protection, such as supervision of schools, preschools, and hygienic operations. Cases concerning new businesses and complaints about indoor environments are included in the assignment. Exact areas of supervision can be adjusted based on previous experience and preferences.

You are responsible for the case, for dialogue with the parties involved, and for making decisions. You work independently but in close collaboration with colleagues in the unit.

QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants should have a university degree in environmental and health protection or equivalent qualifications as assessed by the employer. We prefer that you have previous experience working as an environmental and health protection inspector.

The work requires knowledge of the Environmental Code, and we would like you to have experience writing decisions and other regulatory documents. You have good knowledge of the Swedish language and can easily make yourself understood both orally and in writing. A driver's license is required, but you do not need to have a car.

We will place great emphasis on your personal qualities. To fit the role, you need to have good collaboration skills and enjoy working both in a team and independently. You take responsibility for both your own and the group's work and work in a structured and goal-oriented manner. You have a flexible approach and can prioritize as needed. As a person, you are outgoing and can engage in a positive and factual dialogue with both business operators and private individuals without losing your role as an authority representative.

The position is a temporary contract until December 31, 2026.

We warmly welcome your application!
