At the Building, Living, and Environment office, we take great responsibility for complex issues regarding the municipality's development. The Building, Living, and Environment office is collectively responsible for Nykvarn Municipality's urban planning issues. Among us, there are departments and units for Building and Environment, Planning and Exploitation, as well as Streets/Parks.

Environmental Inspector with a focus on supervision of environmentally hazardous activities

The Building and Environment Department is now looking for an engaged environmental inspector to strengthen our team in environmental protection. The Building and Environment Department is a small but ambitious department where dialogue, participation, and development are at the center. Your main responsibilities will be assessment and supervision according to the Environmental Code, focusing on environmentally hazardous activities. This includes participating in the planning and execution of supervision, handling incoming assessment cases and complaints of various kinds. If you have broader expertise, it may also be relevant to work with other supervisory areas or tasks. We are looking for someone with specialized knowledge in the field of environmental and health protection related to assessment and supervision according to the Environmental Code through an academic degree or another higher education degree that we consider equivalent. This means you have a scientific background with good knowledge of relevant special legislation, administrative law, and supervision methodology.

Nykvarn Municipality is a Finnish administrative area, and we consider it an advantage if you speak Finnish.

Requirements:

• Educated environmental and health protection inspector or other education that the employer assesses as equivalent
• B driver's license
• Good knowledge of the Environmental Code, administrative law, and authority exercise
• Experience in supervisory work according to the Environmental Code
• Good ability to communicate, collaborate, and meet people in a professional manner
• Ability to work with structure and a sense of responsibility both independently and in a group

Meritorious:

• Insight into public operations
• Experience with case management systems like Castor
• Experience working with contaminated areas and mass handling
• Experience working in a municipality or in a municipal association
