Do you want to help shape the sustainable society of the future?
Producer responsibility is a rapidly growing area that plays an important role in circular economy and resource efficiency. We are now strengthening our team in this area and are looking for several case officers who want to help develop and implement regulations that make a difference – both in Sweden and in the EU.
Producer responsibility is an area undergoing significant change. The EU has recently decided on two new producer responsibilities: one for textiles and shoes and one for pharmaceuticals and cosmetics. New producer responsibility legislation is being negotiated for end-of-life vehicles and is expected to be proposed next year for electronics. We are in the midst of implementing new regulations related to batteries and packaging. The Swedish Environmental Protection Agency currently has five government assignments directly related to various producer responsibilities.
The government has announced increased funding in this area, which gives us the opportunity to invest for the future. We are therefore strengthening the team at the Producer Responsibility Unit and are looking for case officers with varying levels of experience: both case officers who are at the beginning of their careers and want to grow into the role (this ad) and experienced case officers with broader experience and deeper knowledge in the field (separate ad).
As a case officer with us, you will be part of a team that works on guidance, case management, development, and implementation of legislation related to nine producer responsibilities and also administers the system of littering fees. The responsibility for supervision within producer responsibilities will, from the turn of the year, lie with our new sister unit for producer responsibility supervision and market control. We work closely with lawyers, statistical officers, and social economists from other parts of the agency.
Your tasks
Your tasks include providing guidance to various stakeholders, processing incoming applications and notifications, setting requirements and testing new IT support, as well as administrative tasks related to fee management. An important part of the work is to contribute to the effective implementation of producer responsibility legislation.
We work in teams and share responsibility for the entire unit's mission. The distribution of tasks therefore varies over time. Initially, the tasks will focus on areas such as packaging and littering fees but may also include other producer responsibilities in the future.
