Your role as Environmental Operations Specialist:

As an Environmental Operations Specialist, you will be the link between strategy and practical implementation in Elgiganten's environmental work. You will play a central role in reducing our environmental impact and contributing to our vision of a more sustainable retail industry.

You will be responsible for our ISO 14001 certified environmental management system, ensure compliance with environmental legislation, and drive the development of our environmental work forward. The role combines strategy and execution, turning our goals into actual results throughout the organization.

You will also be the spokesperson for our environmental work, both internally and in some cases externally, and work closely with the sales and operations organization in our department stores, retail locations, and headquarters. You will work to ensure that all parts of the organization have the right knowledge, tools, and conditions to succeed. To create real impact, this role involves travel to our department stores and retail locations across the country.

Your main responsibilities:

  • Be responsible for, develop, and follow up our ISO 14001 certified environmental management system
  • Ensure that the company complies with relevant environmental legislation
  • Conduct internal audits and drive continuous improvements
  • Set goals, requirements, and strategic guidelines for our environmental work
  • Create engagement and knowledge throughout the organization through training, workshops, and digital solutions
  • Collaborate with the marketing department to ensure that our external communication reflects real results
  • Be a support and advisor for both leaders and employees on environmental-related issues

Who are you?

We are looking for someone who is passionate about environmental issues and wants to make a real difference! You have both strategic insight and the ability to drive operational work towards goals. You thrive in an independent role with significant responsibility and find it easy to create engagement and collaborate across departmental boundaries.

To succeed, you need to be structured, communicative, and have a high work capacity. You have a holistic perspective, enjoy having multiple projects running simultaneously, and are not afraid to roll up your sleeves when needed.

We believe that you:

  • Have good knowledge of environmental work and applicable legislation
  • Have experience working with or being responsible for environmental management systems (preferably ISO 14001)
  • Are accustomed to expressing yourself clearly in speech and writing, both in Swedish and English
  • Have a valid driver's license (B)

Meritorious:

  • Post-secondary education in environmental science, sustainability, or a related field
  • Experience of change management in larger organizations
  • Good computer skills and knowledge of the Office suite

Employment type: Permanent, with a six-month probationary period

Scope: Full-time

Start date: By agreement

Location: The position is based at our headquarters in Kungsholmen, Stockholm. Centrally located in Stockholm but involves travel to our department stores and retail locations several times a month.
