The Environmental Unit works to promote human health and a sustainable environment.

Our organization is part of the Community Building Office's operations, and we are now looking for an environmental inspector who will work with supervision and processing of various types of operations.

Job Responsibilities

As an environmental inspector, you will primarily exercise supervision within the framework of the Environmental Code. We are mainly looking for someone who can work with supervision according to the Environmental Code, focusing primarily on environmentally hazardous activities and mass management.

You will conduct inspections, write decisions, be a presenter in the board, and guide and inform operators. The tasks also include processing applications and notifications, handling complaints, and other case management.

The Environmental Unit also processes cases in areas such as shore protection, nature reserves, agriculture, littering, outdoor noise, testing, and supervises water activities, individual sewage systems, contaminated land, mass management, and quarries.

Main Job Responsibilities:

  • Plan, monitor, drive, and develop the work and supervision within your areas of responsibility
  • Conduct supervision and inspections of operations
  • Process cases according to the Environmental Code in areas such as contaminated areas, environmentally hazardous activities, individual sewage systems, waste, etc.
  • Evaluate notifications and applications for permits, exemptions, and exceptions
  • Provide advice and support to companies, operators, politicians, and the public
  • Participate in the office's projects and contribute your environmental expertise
  • Prepare referral responses and statements to other authorities and instances

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Education as an environmental inspector or other equivalent scientific or technical education that the employer deems relevant for the assignment.
  • Good knowledge of the Environmental Code and administrative law.
  • Driver's license B
  • Good ability to express yourself in Swedish both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work with structure and a sense of responsibility both independently and in a group
  • Experience working with supervision according to the Environmental Code is an advantage.
  • Experience working in a municipality is an advantage.
  • Preferably experience working in Castor case management system.

The position is a permanent employment. A probationary period may be applied. Start date according to agreement.
