Kemikalieinspektionen is looking for an Advisor
Kemikalieinspektionen is a government agency tasked with reducing the risks of harm to people and the environment from chemicals. As an employee with us, you are part of a significant effort for sustainable development in Sweden, within the EU, and globally. We have 250 employees and our office is located in central Sundbyberg.
The Advisory and Regulatory Information Unit is responsible for providing advice and support to companies, authorities, and other operators regarding existing and new regulations within all areas of Kemikalieinspektionen's responsibilities. We actively collaborate with other parts of Kemikalieinspektionen and also with the European Chemicals Agency ECHA's network for national Helpdesks.
Do you want to support companies in their efforts to comply with chemical legislation?
The unit currently consists of eleven advisors with deep and broad experience of Kemikalieinspektionen's regulations. We are a dedicated team with diverse backgrounds and experiences. With great commitment and a positive spirit, we do our best together to ensure that companies are aware of, understand, and comply with the regulations within Kemikalieinspektionen's area of responsibility. In our role as advisors, we are Kemikalieinspektionen's face to companies and individuals. With us, you will help companies understand which chemical regulations apply to their products and contribute to the legislation functioning in practice.
RESPONSIBILITIES
As an advisor, you will work outwardly with varied tasks. You will provide advice and support to companies, authorities, and other operators regarding existing and new regulations within Kemikalieinspektionen's areas of responsibility. You will do this by:
- answering questions about legislative requirements in our inquiry service, both by phone and in writing.
- organizing your own and participating in other actors' information meetings and events
- writing informational materials and texts for the agency's website
Your work also includes keeping up to date with legislation to proactively inform companies about existing and new requirements.
The unit also contributes to Kemikalieinspektionen's work with regulatory development, as we have experience of companies' efforts to comply with legislation in practice.
We also participate in the European Chemicals Agency ECHA's network for national Helpdesks, regarding EU regulations on Reach, CLP, and Biocides. In this way, we contribute to the rules being interpreted and applied consistently in EU member states.
QUALIFICATIONS
The work is varied and requires competence in both natural sciences and regulatory application. We are looking for someone with a university degree that we consider relevant for the position.
You should have experience working with chemical legislation in a company or authority, for example by:
- having worked with supervision at an authority, as a consultant in a company providing advice, developing regulations at an authority, or working related to chemical legislation in an industry organization or within the industry.
You should have insight and understanding of governmental work as well as the conditions and needs of companies.
It is an advantage if you have experience working with EU common legislation in the chemical field, such as the Reach or CLP regulations. For example, you may have worked with classification and labeling according to CLP, reviewed or prepared safety data sheets, or assisted companies in registering substances under Reach.
The regulations we advise on are both extensive and detailed, which places high demands on your ability to absorb various guidance and to use and interpret different legislations. Additionally, you must be able to express yourself clearly and understandably in both spoken and written Swedish and English.
Frequent contact with colleagues, company representatives, authorities, and other interest groups places high demands on good judgment and demeanor, as well as good collaboration and communication skills. You understand the value of good service and a positive attitude.
As a person, you are constructive, solution-oriented, and responsible. You are proactive and independent while also being good at collaborating and building relationships with colleagues both within and outside your organizational unit. We place great importance on personal qualities.
OTHER
At Kemikalieinspektionen, every employee is important for the agency to function, and we therefore care about your health and work environment. Your knowledge is valued, and you have great opportunities for development.
We expect all employees to contribute to a good working atmosphere and understand their role as civil servants in our shared mission.
You work and act according to our employee policy and our values. We also conduct targeted work for equal rights and opportunities.
Based on the needs of the organization, there is an opportunity, after agreement with the manager, to work up to half of the working hours remotely.
Interviews may take place continuously during the application period.
