Then there is now a unique opportunity to try working with supervision within the Defense Sector. We are growing and are now looking for an inspector for the environmental protection section based at the Armed Forces Headquarters in Stockholm.

Together with other inspectors, you will contribute to ensuring that the Armed Forces' growth takes place with consideration for the environment in accordance with laws and regulations. About the Defense Inspectorate for Health and Environment

The Defense Inspectorate for Health and Environment conducts supervision within the Armed Forces, the Fortifications Agency, the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration, and the Swedish Defence Radio Agency. We are responsible for supervision over environmental and health protection, healthcare, infection control, as well as public control of food, animal by-products, feed, and animal welfare within the Armed Forces. When the Defense Inspectorate for Health and Environment exercises supervision and control, the inspector is not subordinate to the Supreme Commander.

The environmental protection section currently consists of nine people with experience in supervision according to the Environmental Code from various authorities. The section is characterized by a strong team spirit and great commitment. We place great emphasis on consensus and that everyone should want to contribute to the whole.

Main Responsibilities

The work includes, among other things, the assessment and supervision of environmentally and health hazardous activities. Main responsibilities include handling incoming notifications of environmentally hazardous activities. This includes reviewing documentation, preparing the case otherwise, and writing proposals for decisions. Among the types of cases are, for example, notifications according to the Defense Activities Ordinance (2024:1212), notifications according to the Environmental Assessment Ordinance (2013:251), exemptions from REACH, individual sewage systems, treatment plants, heat pumps, and the use of pesticides.

The tasks also include independently planning and conducting supervision visits at defense sector facilities and activities, such as workshops, vehicle washes, shooting ranges, airports, sewage treatment plants, and living environments for conscripts. Since supervision is conducted throughout Sweden, travel is included in the job. Travel abroad may also occur.

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

  • Academic degree from a relevant natural science education
  • Current work experience in a relevant field
  • Good ability to express oneself in speech and writing in Swedish
  • Good IT skills and computer proficiency
  • Driving license B

In your role as an inspector, you need to be structured and have good analytical and administrative skills. You are confident in yourself and your professional role and have a good ability to work effectively, both independently and in a team. You have experience and the ability to meet people in different environments. To thrive with us, you should be unpretentious and see it as a given to share your knowledge and experiences. Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities.

MERITORIOUS

  • Current and relevant experience of authority exercise
  • Knowledge and experience of processing notifications regarding environmentally hazardous activities
  • Experience of supervision according to the Environmental Code
  • Good knowledge of the Environmental Code and its related legislation
  • Knowledge of the defense sector's activities
