Environmental Officer in Water and Sewage

Do you want to help make a difference for our environment in Stockholm County? We are looking for a solution-oriented person interested in working with supervision in the area of water and sewage.

What does the role include?

As an environmental officer, you will be part of a knowledgeable team that works with supervision and follow-up of environmentally hazardous activities, with a particular focus on sewage treatment plants. You will also work with supervision according to the Public Water Services Act.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • processing notifications, complaints, and operational disturbances
  • conducting supervision and follow-up of operations
  • responding to internal referrals, primarily within planning matters and appealed cases
  • contributing to supervisory guidance in the area
  • working with other types of supervisory assignments as needed.

Are you the one we are looking for?

For this role, we want you to have:

  • at least three years of education at a university or college in environmental and health protection or similar
  • knowledge of and experience in applying the Environmental Code and its regulations
  • at least three years of experience in water and sewage work
  • good ability to express yourself in speech and writing
  • driver's license B category.

As a person, you have an interest in understanding and interpreting legislation in various subject areas. You have the ability to make assessments and trade-offs in complex cases. You are responsible and comfortable making decisions. You take initiative, are driven, and have the ability to work effectively and solution-oriented. You have integrity, are confident, and find it easy to collaborate with others.

As an employee at the County Administrative Board, you need to:

  • be able to make decisions based on a holistic perspective, considering multiple viewpoints
  • understand that a central role for the County Administrative Board is to make trade-offs between different interests
  • have the ability to prioritize and adapt to work with new tasks or in new contexts.

It is advantageous if you have:

  • experience working with larger treatment plants (B-facilities)
  • experience working with the Public Water Services Act.

The position is permanent with a start date according to agreement. We usually apply a six-month probationary period.

You will be placed in the Environmental Department with 120 employees and the Environmental Protection Unit, which is one of six units with 25 employees. The Environmental Protection Unit has a broad mandate that includes supervision as well as assessment.
