Job Responsibilities

The purpose of this project is to create industrially relevant bacterial strains that can utilize green hydrogen and CO2 to produce renewable chemicals.

In the project, photosynthetic cyanobacterial strains will be modified with hydrogenases to introduce the ability to grow on hydrogen. Mutant strains will then be optimized for growth on hydrogen through adaptive laboratory evolution. Changes in the bacteria will be analyzed using sequencing and proteomics infrastructure available in-house, and the results will be used to gain deeper insights into the metabolism of cyanobacteria and to compare photosynthetic and heterotrophic production of chemicals. The project is in its early stages within a newly established research group, and the applicant will have a significant degree of independence in how the project is conducted and developed further.

Qualifications

Requirements

PhD degree or foreign degree deemed equivalent to a PhD
You have demonstrated scientific proficiency in the form of publications in journals
You also possess a high degree of independence in the design and execution of research
Additionally, you have a good ability to collaborate within a research group

Meritorious

We prefer that you have expertise in bacterial metabolism and synthetic biology and/or experience working with cyanobacteria
We also prefer that you have experience teaching or training students in laboratory techniques and other pedagogical merits such as developing and leading operations and staff.
Awareness of diversity and equal treatment issues with a particular focus on gender equality.

About the Employment
