We are looking for someone who:
Our client is an authority within the transport sector responsible for the expansion of the subway to Älvsjö. The organization is in the final phase of the planning process and in the midst of the design phase for the upcoming construction stage. We are now looking for a Sustainability Officer who wants to contribute to one of Sweden's most significant infrastructure projects.
You will belong to the sustainability function within the administration and support two sub-projects: Tunnels & Stations and Depot, Traffic Systems & Vehicles. There are already several sustainability officers and a sustainability coordinator on-site with whom you will work closely.
The role of the Sustainability OfficerIn this role, you will serve as the project's resource for sustainability issues and work both supportively and coordinatively within the projects as well as towards the contractor. You will participate in various meeting series and report to the sustainability coordinator, project manager, and head of administration.
Sustainability management covers areas such as noise, chemicals, waste management, emissions to land and water, contaminated areas, air quality, material choices, BREEAM Infra, climate, innovation, and social sustainability.
Responsibilities:
- Be the project's resource on sustainability issues – support and coordinate the work in the sub-projects.
- Further develop and follow up on the client's sustainability work.
- Participate in the work with railway plans and environmental assessments.
- Conduct sustainability training within the organization.
- Contribute to improvement work through the development of working methods, checklists, and routines.
- Report progress, challenges, and needs to the sustainability coordinator and management.
- Support and follow up on the sustainability work of designers and contractors.
- Support the work with climate calculations and follow-up of control programs for environmentally hazardous activities.
- Implement and follow up on the client's control program for sustainability management.
- Participate in environmental inspections, supervision meetings, and handling of environmental notifications and permits.
- Review tender documents, investigations, and reports.
- Contribute to the coordination and follow-up of the projects' BREEAM work.
- Conduct environmental audits in contracts as needed.
You are a person who thrives in a independent and coordinating role, with good communication skills and a strong sense of quality. Requirements:
- University or college degree (bachelor's or master's) with a focus on environment, sustainability, or civil engineering, or other similar education for at least 3 years (in addition to the requirements below).
- At least 5 years of professional experience in environmental and/or sustainability issues as an officer, coordinator, expert, specialist, strategist, or similar position, where you have had professional responsibility for environmental and/or sustainability issues, regardless of exact title, and that the tasks match what is typically included in the above-mentioned roles – e.g., investigation, analysis, advice, strategic work, or coordination.
- At least 3 years of experience working with environmental and sustainability issues within the construction and/or civil engineering industry in the last 10 years.
- Experience working with environmental/sustainability issues during the construction phase in at least 1 large project (project budget over 300 million SEK).
- Worked on at least 1 project whose conditions were regulated according to environmental court.
