Group Leader for Environmental Inspection

Job Responsibilities

As a group leader - environmental inspector, you will:

  • lead and coordinate the environmental group's work with assessments and supervision
  • ensure effective, legally secure, and quality processing according to the Environmental Code
  • distribute cases and support colleagues in daily work, both in substantive issues and in method and process matters
  • be the convenor of the team and responsible for information dissemination and reporting to the immediate supervisor
  • contribute to motivation, job satisfaction, and participation in the group
  • handle your own cases, perform supervision, and assess permits within the environmental field
  • provide advice and guidance to operators, businesses, politicians, and the public
  • participate in community planning projects and contribute your environmental expertise.

The work involves close dialogue with residents and businesses, where we place great value on advancing cases in a positive spirit, focusing on solutions and good service.

About the Workplace

The Community Planning Department works to create and develop Nynäshamn's physical environment through comprehensive planning, building permits, and environmental issues. Our goal is to create a sustainable, vibrant, and attractive municipality that meets the needs of residents.

On June 1, 2026, a new organization for the municipality's governmental exercise in the environmental field will start. The aim is to create better conditions for a service-oriented, legally secure, and accessible supervision, while the organization contributes to more effective coordination with the municipality's other community planning activities. This provides a more cohesive governmental exercise and strengthens our capacity to meet both residents' and businesses' needs.

The environmental operation will be organizationally coordinated with the planning and building permit operations. What We Are Looking For

To succeed in this role, you have:

  • a degree in environmental and health protection or other education/experience deemed equivalent by the employer
  • documented experience in handling individual sewage systems, water extraction, or contaminated areas
  • experience in a leading or coordinating role within relevant operations
  • in-depth knowledge of the Environmental Code and experience in municipal supervision and assessments
  • a valid driver's license (B)
  • good ability to express yourself well in spoken and written Swedish.

It is advantageous if you have:

  • experience in water operations, drinking water supply, development cases, or older regulations in the environmental and building sector.
