The Community Building Administration manages and develops both urban and rural areas within the municipality. We have the overall responsibility for planning and creating the physical, legal, and business conditions for a safe and good living environment in Botkyrka. Our 125 employees work to enable good housing and an attractive local environment regardless of where one is in life.

The Position and Responsibilities

We are looking for an environmental inspector for a parental leave replacement of 12 months.

As an environmental inspector, you will be part of the operational supervision team against unhealthy competition. You will work with proactive and operational supervision within the entire scope of the Environmental and Health Protection Committee. The work involves planning, implementing, and following up on initiatives together with the team leader, while collaborating with other parts of the Community Building Administration, the municipality, and external authorities. The aim is to counteract unhealthy competition, prevent crime, and enhance safety for the residents of Botkyrka.

Your main responsibilities:

  • Conduct proactive and targeted supervision in collaboration with other authorities and stakeholders
  • Participate in the development of the team's working methods for effective and legally secure supervision
  • Document and follow up on cases within given time frames
  • Contribute to clear and service-oriented communication with operators and citizens
  • Develop routines and working methods within the area of operations.

The role suits you if you enjoy varied work where you can combine law, analysis, and collaboration. With us, you will be part of a department with about 50 employees who together work for a safe, fair, and sustainable environment for both residents and businesses in Botkyrka.

Work during evenings and weekends may occur.

We Offer You

You will be part of a dedicated and knowledgeable unit with seven employees: a unit manager, a team leader, two tobacco and alcohol inspectors, two environmental inspectors, and a building permit officer. We are a close-knit group that combines broad expertise with a high level of service and close collaboration. In your work, you will have support from environmental legal expertise, and the unit regularly collaborates with other authorities and community stakeholders. Together, we contribute to developing supervision work and creating good conditions for a safe and sustainable Botkyrka.

We offer a modern and digital work environment where you plan your work independently but always have colleagues close at hand. With us, you will have the opportunity to influence operations, develop in your professional role, and contribute your ideas. We actively work with professional development through both internal and external training. Here, you will encounter a warm and inclusive climate in a municipality characterized by commitment, diversity, and the desire to make a difference.

You Who Are Applying to Us

You have an academic degree in environmental and health protection, environmental science, or another education that the employer assesses as equivalent. You have several years of experience in qualified work with authority exercise based on the Environmental Code.

Other requirements for the position:

  • You have experience expressing yourself clearly and professionally in Swedish, both orally and in writing, especially within the framework of authority exercise.
  • Valid B driver's license, as you will be actively moving throughout Botkyrka Municipality and regularly using a car for work.

It is meritorious if you have:

  • Experience in a politically governed operation
  • Experience with the Administrative Procedure Act.
  • Experience meeting citizens, entrepreneurs, and other stakeholders in challenging situations.
  • Experience developing working methods within supervisory activities.

As an environmental inspector, you use your stable and confident demeanor in meetings with companies, organizations, and other authorities. You have a respectful and attentive approach that builds trust and contributes to constructive dialogues even in challenging situations. Your ability to build relationships is an important asset when collaborating with colleagues within the municipality and with external actors to counteract unhealthy competition and promote safety.

You work independently and in a structured manner when planning, implementing, and following up on supervisory initiatives. At the same time, you thrive in close collaboration with others and contribute to an open and solution-oriented work climate.
