Job Responsibilities
Do you want a fun and meaningful job this summer? The Disability Support Administration in Malmö is now looking for engaged and curious employees who want to make a difference for the residents of Malmö.
At our children's homes and short-term residences, you are expected to help and support children/youth with care, daily activities, leisure, and cultural activities based on their specific strengths, interests, and needs. Job tasks include, for example:
- activities inside or outside the residence
- care and personal hygiene
- preparation for or support during meals
- medication management
- social documentation
A common aspect of all work with us is to meet each user individually so that they receive the support, service, or care they are entitled to. In some residences, the care interventions are extensive, and in all, challenging behaviors occur in daily work.
The work is scheduled for days, evenings, weekends, or alternatively night shifts.
Qualifications
To work with us, you need at least a high school education and must be at least 18 years old. Your educational background determines whether you will be employed as a support assistant, support pedagogue, or care assistant.
Qualifications for support assistant: completed and approved studies from the health and care program or the child and youth program. You may also have other education that the employer assesses as equivalent.
Qualifications for support pedagogue: ongoing or completed studies at a university (60 credits) or vocational training (200 credits) in areas such as disability, pedagogy, social work, or behavioral science.
If you lack educational qualifications equivalent to support assistant or support pedagogue, you will be employed as a care assistant.
Common to all three job categories is that you must be computer literate and able to express yourself in Swedish both verbally and in writing. Knowledge of or experience with LSS and disabilities is advantageous, as is working with individuals with autism and/or clear pedagogical methods. If you have further experience with challenging behavior and low-arousal approaches, that is also considered a merit.
A driving license for a manual transmission vehicle is advantageous.
It is important that you have a good view of humanity, a respectful approach, and good pedagogical skills. Since the concept of "together" permeates our work, you need to be able to collaborate well with others.
About the Workplace
Our services target children/youth with diagnoses within the autism spectrum and/or intellectual disabilities. You will either work in a short-term residence according to LSS 9:6 or in a children's home according to LSS 9:8. With us, you will have a varied job with varying hours, where you meet children and youth with autism/intellectual disabilities and challenging behavior.
In the Disability Support Administration, over 3000 employees work together to create and develop even better support and services for people with disabilities. Our services exist within LSS, social psychiatry, personal assistance, guides and relief services, and health care. Severely ill children receiving care at home are also part of our mission. We work for everyone’s right to good health, opportunities for work and employment, and to participate in society based on their conditions. Join us in creating a meaningful and good life for Malmö residents with mental, intellectual, or physical disabilities!
