Your Responsibilities

As an urban planner, you will work with strategic planning issues and comprehensive planning, which includes both the formal processes according to the Planning and Building Act (PBL) and other, more investigative and analytical tasks. You will independently drive projects while taking responsibility for the overall picture through continuous dialogue with your colleagues in our often complex issues. Anchoring, feasibility, and digitalization are important development factors we work with in our projects and processes.

The municipality faces several exciting and challenging urban development issues that you can expect to work with. We have an adopted Planning Strategy that forms the basis for our work on a new digital comprehensive plan for the municipality and our ongoing planning analysis.

We have a mix of assignments, both clearly defined and others that need to be defined. We are now looking for an experienced urban planner with a particular interest in more complex tasks. This is a role for you who is attracted to work with strategic challenges and has both the experience and drive to chart the path and structure of the work.

Your Workplace

The Strategic Planning Unit is one of three units within the Urban Planning Department, which works on behalf of the Community Building Committee and the Municipal Executive Board. The department works with overarching strategic planning, comprehensive planning, and detailed planning and is also responsible for the municipality's land supply and exploitation. The Strategic Planning Unit has a broad competence in strategic/comprehensive planning, traffic, green structure, cultural environment, and digitalization/visualization. Together, we lay the foundation for a sustainable Linköping and create preparedness for today's and tomorrow's challenges.

Our workplace is located in modern premises in Ebbepark. We apply an activity-based working method and work with trust-based time. Additionally, there is the opportunity to work some time remotely.

We are now looking for an urban planner who wants to help drive the municipality's physical planning and development.

Who You Are

Your educational background is, for example, an architect, landscape architect, urban planner, or other education relevant to the assignment. You have experience in strategic planning issues and enjoy being responsible for projects where the conditions are constantly evolving. We also see that you have good experience with GIS as a working tool.

It is advantageous if you have experience working with economic sustainability in planning contexts and implementation issues at a strategic level.

The work is often concretized in various texts, and in the role, you will communicate with different actors, so it is important that you have good knowledge of Swedish and the ability to express yourself well in speech and writing.

We are looking for an experienced planner with the ability to understand complex conditions and translate them into wise planning directions. To succeed in the role, you enjoy taking initiative and driving processes where the methodology and structure need to be established by you. You have a strong drive and a desire to achieve results with the right quality. You have good communication skills and enjoy collaborating with others, both internally and with external parties. In your work, you are structured, and you plan and prioritize your work effectively. In changing circumstances, you maintain calm and can quickly change perspectives and approaches. You keep a realistic perspective on situations and focus on the right things.
