You will work at the Unit for Investigation and Sustainability at the municipal executive office with exciting and varied tasks as one of the municipality's three municipal lawyers responsible for cross-municipal legal issues. The unit consists, in addition to municipal lawyers, of experts and specialists who support the municipal group in areas such as ecological and social sustainability. The unit prepares decision-making materials for political decisions in the municipality's sustainability committee, municipal executive board, and municipal council.

Your tasks

You will serve as the organization's advisor on legal matters together with two other municipal lawyers in the same unit. The position involves working on issues that concern many different areas of law and with a high degree of complexity. The work is varied with many contacts both internally and externally. The role includes supporting issues related to public access and confidentiality and other legislation, drafting cases for the political arena, reviewing and managing contracts, drafting opinions for authorities and other actors, and representing the municipality in negotiations and legal processes in court. It is important that you actively follow legal developments and take the necessary initiatives to ensure that the municipality is updated on the applicable regulations. You will conduct training, development, and information initiatives as needed.

Who are you?

We are looking for someone with a law degree, broad general legal competence, and several years of experience working as a lawyer. You have good knowledge in several areas of law relevant to municipal operations, such as municipal law, administrative law, and public access and confidentiality. Experience working as a lawyer in the public sector, preferably as a municipal lawyer, is an advantage.

The role of municipal lawyer involves working in a multifaceted organization and requires the ability to quickly understand legal issues and to work on several different matters simultaneously, which in turn requires flexibility, a structured approach, and the ability to prioritize. You approach the legal dilemmas that arise with interest and commitment, and you assist colleagues and politicians with support and advice. The role requires a consultative working method as well as the ability to take initiative and independently handle issues within your area. We value an interest in working with strategic long-term plans and ensuring the best for the municipality as a whole.

As a person, you are analytical and meticulous. You have a strong solution focus and can communicate constructive solutions clearly. The work requires you to have a very good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing, as well as the ability to convey information pedagogically. As a municipal lawyer, you will have many external and internal contacts, which makes your communication and collaboration skills very important.

Requirements:
- Law degree with broad general legal competence
- Experience working as a lawyer
- Good knowledge in several areas of law relevant to municipal operations
- Very good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing

Meritorious:
- Experience with a consultative working method
- Experience working as a municipal lawyer or within an authority
