The Department of Medicine, Division of Molecular and Clinical Medicine, conducts translational research primarily focused on metabolism, diabetes, obesity, and cardiovascular disease to improve health and healthcare in society. The overall goal is to create an excellent translational research environment of very high international standard.

Several research groups in the division conduct epidemiological/genetic research.

Job Responsibilities

Analysis of large datasets from clinical population studies and smaller kinetic studies with stable isotopes to clarify lipid metabolism. Special focus is on postprandial lipid metabolism and studies clarifying how rare genetic variants affect lipid metabolism, as well as studies clarifying the atherogenicity of different lipoproteins. Supervision of students and doctoral candidates, communication of research results, and some responsibility for project coordination are also included in the job responsibilities.

Qualifications

PhD in a relevant field for the job responsibilities. Significant documented experience in statistical analysis, bioinformatics, and multi-compartment analysis (SAAM II) of kinetic studies with stable isotopes is required for the position. Also, significant documented experience working with genetic biobanks, such as the UK Biobank, is required. Experience analyzing cardiovascular risk factors and the ability to obtain external research grants is highly meritorious. We place great emphasis on personal suitability with a focus on initiative, the ability to work independently, and responsibility. The applicant must be fluent in English, both written and spoken.
