About the Unit
The Investigation Section of the Personnel Security Department represents a specialized competence within the Swedish Armed Forces' personnel security protection and is a vital component in preventing, detecting, and countering insider threats. The section is responsible for leading, coordinating, and developing personal investigations within the framework of security vetting. This means that the Investigation Section investigates events and circumstances that may pose risk factors from a personnel security perspective. The investigations form the basis for decisions in security vetting cases that determine whether a person meets the requirements for an approved security clearance within the Swedish Armed Forces.
Main Responsibilities
As the section chief for the Investigation Section, you will lead the section's work with responsibility for personnel and finances. The section has a high workload with a large influx of cases - both complex cases and cases that need to be handled urgently. This requires you to prioritize the section's work, develop the section's working methods and routines, create structure in and follow up on operations, and inspire and motivate your colleagues.
You will work closely with the section's investigators and also conduct personal investigations yourself, which you will compile and present. This means that you will gather, process, and analyze information about individuals who are subject to security vetting and assess their loyalty, reliability, and vulnerability from a security perspective. The investigative work may include background checks, reference taking, as well as interviews and conversations.
You will be an important support for organizational units in their handling of security-related personnel matters and a key knowledge and competence bearer within the field of personnel security, both within the Swedish Armed Forces and outside the authority. This means that you will be involved in developing the Swedish Armed Forces' regulations, methods, and processes for security vetting.
The work takes place on-site in the Swedish Armed Forces' premises and in the Armed Forces' IT systems. Travel within Sweden is included in the job responsibilities, and international travel may also occur.
Qualifications
- Officer (OF2 or OF3)
- Good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish and English.
Meritorious
- Experience in leading, supporting, and developing personnel as a manager.
- Experience and education in security service and/or security vetting.
- Education in relevant fields, such as police work, behavioral science, or criminology.
- Experience in investigative work where you have gathered, processed, and analyzed information and made assessments and recommendations for decisions.
- Experience and education in conversation methodology.
Personal Qualities
We are looking for someone who is an engaged, motivated, and structured leader who contributes to a positive work environment. You have a high level of personal maturity and are unpretentious and responsible, even under stress and pressure. Since the work involves tasks with high confidentiality and your assessments have a significant impact on both the individual and the organization, good judgment, strong analytical skills, integrity, and a high level of security awareness are required. To succeed in this role, you need to be flexible and meticulous, as well as have the ability to shift focus and prioritize according to the needs of the organization. Additionally, you should have well-developed social skills.
Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
The above qualifications must be verifiable upon request through certificates, references, and work or selection tests.
