The National Heritage Board is the national authority that leads and supports the work of preserving, using, and developing cultural heritage. Our operations are located in Visby, Stockholm, and Tumba, and we also conduct public activities at the visitor site Glimmingehus. We have approximately 250 employees.
Do you want to help shape the future of cultural environment work?
If you have the ability to lead the organization forward with clarity and a holistic view of the assignment, you may be the one we are looking for.
The Cultural Environment Department is responsible for the authority's work in the cultural environment area by promoting a sustainable society where a diversity of cultural environments can be preserved, used, and developed. We lead and support cultural environment work in the country and ensure that cultural environment interests are taken into account in urban planning and construction. We are also responsible for managing and making available digital cultural historical information about ancient remains and buildings. The department consists of four units, one of which is building development.
Your tasks
As the unit manager for building development, you will lead a team of experts and work with them to ensure that the cultural environment values of buildings can be preserved, used, and developed. The unit's employees are located in both Visby and Stockholm.
The unit's area of work includes being proactive and forward-looking in issues related to buildings in sustainable community development. The assignment requires a holistic view of the regulations and policy areas that govern building development and community development in a broad sense. You are also responsible for decisions in accordance with the regulation on state heritage buildings. Climate transition and climate adaptation, as well as digitalized urban planning, create both opportunities and challenges for the implementation of the work. Your actions are based on the state value framework, and you are responsible for ensuring that your operations are efficient. You will be part of the management team of the Cultural Environment Department and play an important role in the development of the unit's and department's operations.
Your qualifications
We are looking for someone with a relevant academic degree for the assignment. You have several years of experience as a manager with personnel, operational, and budget responsibilities. You have worked in public administration and have both practical experience and theoretical knowledge of change management. We are in a development phase where digital working methods need to be developed, and we are driving a shift towards a more data-driven cultural environment work. Therefore, you need to have experience in driving the development of digital work processes and data management. Furthermore, we expect you to have practical experience of cultural heritage legislation and other legal frameworks that regulate community building. You are accustomed to leading employees remotely.
As a manager, you are good at structuring, planning, and organizing, as well as prioritizing work effectively. You are fearless, take initiative, and are change- and opportunity-oriented. You inspire your employees to develop their abilities and take responsibility for developing the operations together in the right direction. You welcome new ways of working and have the courage to try new paths. You are honest and clear when giving feedback and are willing to engage in dialogue where you act constructively. You have a good ability to create and maintain good relationships and collaborations with colleagues. You express yourself well in both Swedish and English, both orally and in writing. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
Why would you want to work with us?
At the Cultural Environment Department, we work for an efficient and legally secure cultural environment work with a focus on sustainability and diversity. We offer developing tasks, and you will have the opportunity to help shape the future of society and cultural heritage.
If you recognize yourself in the description above and are ready for an interesting challenge, do not hesitate to submit your application.
Other
The employment is a permanent position with a 6-month probationary period, based in Visby or Stockholm. For most jobs, we can offer some remote work.
