The Department of Children and Education is responsible for the overall work of quality assurance, coordination, development, and leadership of the operations within preschool, primary school, after-school care, adapted primary school, and upper secondary school, as well as adult education and the meals unit.

The department's mission is to support the operations in the work of increasing quality and equity from preschool to adult education.

The Department of Children and Education is a public organization with regulatory authority. About the Position

The authority and administration unit works based on the goals of the municipal plan and has a mission to contribute to increased goal fulfillment within all objectives. In addition, the unit must ensure that good service is provided to citizens and maintain order and clarity in documents.

As the head of authority and administration, you will have personnel responsibility for eight employees. The department has an experienced team of administrators who are accustomed to handling all ongoing administration, school transport, VFU, and incoming feedback and questions. Your mission is to lead and distribute the work and create conditions for a good working environment and a trusting and innovative culture. In this role, you are responsible for continuously developing and streamlining operations with a focus on the best interests of the citizen.

The regulatory part is new, and there is a need to develop and streamline the regulatory authority to ensure correct handling of ongoing cases, including issues related to IT and digitalization.

Your work will include administering, preparing, and implementing political decisions. You will also assist the head of the department in drafting service documents, steering documents, follow-ups, reports, and more. A central organization with shared resources will support you.

As a unit manager, you will be part of the head of the department's management group and, based on strategic goals, you are responsible for acting as a role model and implementing strategies within the department.

Who Are You?

To fulfill the assignment, you need to have a relevant education related to the task.

You should have several years of experience working in public administration with experience in regulatory authority at the municipal level and some form of leadership training, preferably in developmental leadership. To manage cases from preschool to adult education, it is important that you have experience in the school area with a predominant focus on primary school issues.

You should have knowledge of the Education Act and the regulations governing the school area. The role includes tasks such as writing service documents, contracts, and giving presentations, which requires good knowledge of Swedish and the ability to express oneself well in speech and writing. Experience with specific systems used in public administration, such as case management or statistics, can be an advantage.

As a person, you are secure and stable, accustomed to handling different types of situations. You are a good collaborator as the work requires you to meet different types of people in various situations. You are attentive and communicative. To provide service to others, you need to have a good attitude, responsiveness, and a willingness to find solutions. As a leader, you need to create engagement and participation to achieve common goals and ensure the best interests of the operations in actions and decisions.
