Unit Manager for EU Cooperation

IMY is now looking for a unit manager to lead the work at the authority's unit for EU cooperation. With us, you will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic organization with an important mission that affects all citizens in our society.
Responsibilities
As the unit manager for the EU cooperation unit, you will lead IMY's EU cooperation and other international work. A large part of IMY's EU cooperation involves contributing to the work of the European Data Protection Board (EDPB). Among other things, EDPB is tasked with developing EU-wide guidance on how the General Data Protection Regulation should be interpreted and applied. Another of EDPB's tasks is to make decisions in cases where national supervisory authorities cannot agree.
Your responsibilities include:
- planning, prioritizing, leading, distributing, and following up on work so that the unit achieves set goals
- actively participating in the work of EDPB
- establishing clear structures and routines for the work
- contributing to efficiency and development in accordance with the authority's vision and strategic direction
- contributing to a good culture and collaboration with other parts of the authority
In your role as unit manager, you will lead the unit's five employees. You will report to the legal manager who is part of the authority's management group. IMY's international work is currently conducted at the authority's EU secretariat. As of April 1 this year, the EU secretariat will be transformed into a unit.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with a law degree and extensive experience in qualified legal work at a government authority. You have very good knowledge of data protection issues and solid experience working in that area. You have extensive experience working with EU issues at an authority. You have very good skills in Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
It is an advantage if you have experience leading employees in a similar organization and experience working with legal application or legal guidance at the EU level.

As a representative of the authority, you are trustworthy, clear, and have the ability to build trusting relationships.

The Position
The employment is a permanent full-time position. IMY applies a six-month probationary period. The work is based in our pleasant activity-based premises in central Stockholm. The position includes travel to, among other places, Brussels.
The position is classified in a security class, which means that Swedish citizenship is required for this position. A security review with background checks and security interviews will be conducted before a hiring decision is made.
