Unit Manager for the Innovation Hub
IMY is on a growth and development journey in a changing environment where privacy issues are becoming increasingly important. We are facing new challenges and tasks – from becoming the supervisory authority for AI systems used for law enforcement to providing guidance on how the AI Regulation and the Data Protection Regulation affect each other. We contribute to sustainable digitalization, where offensive innovation is combined with strong privacy protection. Do you also want to work for a safe information society? Then you should apply for a job with us.
We are now recruiting a unit manager for the Innovation Hub. With us, you will have the opportunity to lead a dynamic operation that works with data protection and cutting-edge technology, including AI.
Responsibilities
As a unit manager, you have overall responsibility for operations, employer issues, and working environment within the Innovation Hub. You lead, plan, and follow up on the unit's work and drive development in line with IMY's strategic goals.
The mission of the Innovation Hub is to provide support and tailored guidance on data protection to innovation actors. This is done, for example, through webinars, lectures, and support materials published on the web. The unit is also responsible for driving and developing IMY's regulatory sandbox on data protection, where selected innovation initiatives receive in-depth dialogue-based guidance. The work takes place both nationally and at the European level, including in collaboration with other data protection authorities within the EU and with other authorities and organizations, such as eSAM and DIGG.
Your responsibilities include, among other things:
- working with quality assurance in the unit
- setting goals and continuously ensuring progress in the unit's work
- establishing clear structures and routines for the work
- contributing to efficiency and development in accordance with the agency's vision and strategic direction
- contributing to a good culture and collaboration in accordance with the agency's values
- preparing the agency in light of the AI Regulation by contributing to the unit's increased competence and development of work processes
As a unit manager within the operational activities, you report to a department head. You are part of the department's management team and the agency's management forum, where you work for a cross-agency holistic perspective. You are also expected to identify and prepare issues of significance for the department and contribute to effective collaboration within the department and with other parts of the agency.
You will lead the lawyers in the Innovation Hub but also supervise employees who have a different regular placement and are temporarily loaned to the unit, among other things to contribute specialist knowledge in a specific delivery.
English is the working language in international collaborations and in handling cross-border operational matters. Travel in service may occur.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with a law degree and at least two years of leadership experience with formal responsibility for operations, working environment, and employer issues. You are a leader with a proven ability to steer and lead operations as well as to engage and motivate your employees. Your curiosity about technology and your deep knowledge of data protection and the AI Regulation are prerequisites for succeeding in the role. You have documented experience working with regulatory sandboxes and have a very good ability to express yourself in Swedish and English, both orally and in writing. Additionally, you have a good ability to give presentations and communicate in a clear and pedagogical manner.
It is meritorious if you have documented experience of:
- Working with AI and the AI Regulation
- Having worked in event-driven operations
- Business development and change management
- Having worked with guidance or supervisory activities
- Having worked in a government agency
Your personal qualities
We are looking for a visionary and development-oriented leader who finds constructive solutions that drive the operation forward. You have a very good analytical ability and see what development is required to create real operational benefits. You drive change in a way that creates participation among your employees and ensure that the unit has the right conditions to achieve its goals.
You are driven, but also unpretentious and have very good collaboration skills. With your communicative ability and social skills, you build trusting relationships and networks, both internally and externally. You listen to different perspectives and have the ability to quickly find the core of complex information. You are flexible and work effectively under changing conditions and can deliver with good quality even under high workloads.
As a leader, you motivate and develop your employees through a coaching approach. You create engagement and give your employees both trust and space to take responsibility for the operational implementation.
We place great emphasis on your personal qualities.
