Secretariat for EU and International Affairs, Climate and Enterprise Department

Do you want to contribute to science diplomacy and promote Sweden's relations with India in innovation, research, and higher education? Do you want to monitor and interpret developments in these areas and promote international innovation and research collaborations?

You will represent Sweden as a knowledge nation, promote innovation and research collaborations, and thereby contribute to attracting investments to Sweden. The work is conducted in the areas of innovation, research, and higher education with a focus on monitoring, analyzing, and reporting on developments in the country and establishing networks with relevant actors in these areas. An important part of the work is to contribute to the political processes in Sweden, manage incoming and outgoing delegation trips, and contribute to Team Sweden's work in the host country. You will play a key role in identifying and connecting actors and areas for innovation and research collaborations between the Swedish and Indian innovation systems. The role also includes a leadership responsibility in the embassy's work with innovation, research, and higher education at the embassy in New Delhi and the consulate general in Mumbai. The place of employment is New Delhi.

Your background

We are looking for someone with a degree from a university or college in a relevant field. A doctoral degree or experience studying abroad is an advantage. You should have leadership experience and experience in international research and innovation collaboration. You should also have experience working within the Government Offices, agencies, or public administration, and we value knowledge from analytical or investigative work. We also appreciate experience in collaboration between the public sector, business, and academia, international entrepreneurship or business, international promotion work, and work abroad. Furthermore, you should have good knowledge of the Swedish research and innovation system and Swedish public administration. Knowledge of the Indian research and innovation systems and/or business is also an advantage.

Your qualities

To succeed in this role, you have a well-developed ability to collaborate, create networks, and build relationships. You are analytical, good at communicating, and can express yourself well in both speech and writing, in both Swedish and English. You are self-driven, structured, and innovative with a good ability to independently lead and plan your work and that of your colleagues. To succeed in this role, you need to be quality-conscious and results-oriented, as well as have good judgment and high integrity. We place great importance on your personal qualities.

Other

Employment is full-time (100%). The place of employment is New Delhi. This is a fixed-term position for three years, with the possibility of extension. Start date is by agreement, preferably no later than August 2025. The position is classified in a security class, and a security clearance with a background check will be conducted before a hiring decision is made. You must be a Swedish citizen, but foreign backgrounds are welcome.
