Unit Manager for Data Protection

IMY is now looking for a unit manager who can lead the work in one of our operational units focusing on data protection issues. With us, you will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic organization with an important mission that impacts all citizens in our society.

Responsibilities

In your role as unit manager, you will be responsible for the success of the operation by setting clear goals, monitoring the operations, and ensuring that your employees have the conditions to contribute to the authority carrying out its mission in the best possible way. You will lead your employees in a way that creates engagement and development, where you together are responsible for developing effective working methods that contribute to high productivity and legal quality in the unit's case handling. You will also collaborate with the authority's managers on common work processes and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.

Your responsibilities include, among other things:

  • planning, leading, distributing, and following up on work so that the unit achieves set goals
  • making decisions in operational matters
  • establishing clear structures and routines for the work
  • contributing to efficiency and development in accordance with the authority's vision and strategic direction
  • contributing to a good culture and collaboration in accordance with the authority's values

As a unit manager within the operational business, you report to a department head. You are part of the department's management team and the authority's management forum, where you work for a cross-authority holistic perspective.

You will lead a unit with about ten employees, primarily lawyers, who work with complaints and supervision as well as various forms of guidance.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a law degree and several years of experience in qualified legal work. You are an experienced leader with a proven ability to manage and lead operations and to engage and motivate your employees. With a good ability to set goals, delegate responsibilities, and follow up on results, you create conditions for both the operation and the continuous development of the employees. You have a very good ability to express yourself in Swedish and English, both orally and in writing.

It is meritorious if you have documented experience in:

  • qualified work with data and privacy protection.
  • working in event-driven operations
  • business development and change management
  • working with guidance or supervisory activities
  • experience working in a government agency

Your personal qualities

We are looking for someone with a development-oriented approach who finds constructive solutions even in a dynamic work environment. Furthermore, you can see individual issues in a larger perspective and act based on what is best for the entire organization. You have good judgment and demonstrate this in your statements, decisions, and actions. Additionally, you are skilled at creating good relationships and collaborations at various levels in the organization.

As a person, you are unpretentious, analytical, and accommodating; you listen to different perspectives and then make well-balanced decisions. You work effectively under changing conditions and can deliver high quality even under heavy workloads. To succeed in the role, you also need to be pedagogical and have excellent communication skills.

As a leader, you motivate and develop your employees through a coaching approach. You create engagement and give your employees both trust and responsibility for the operational implementation.

As a representative of the authority, you are trustworthy, clear, and have the ability to build trusting relationships.

The position

The employment is a permanent full-time position. IMY applies a six-month probationary period. The work is based in our pleasant activity-based premises in central Stockholm. Travel in the service may occur. The position is classified in a security class, which means that Swedish citizenship is required for this position. A security review with a background check and security interview will be conducted before a hiring decision is made.
