Military Aircraft Technician Wanted at Special Helicopter Group (SHG)

The Special Helicopter Group (SHG) is a special operations unit within the Swedish Armed Forces' special forces system (FMSF), located at the Helicopter Wing in Linköping. SHG's primary tasks are tactical transport, intelligence gathering, and air support. Like other units within FMSF, SHG has high demands for availability from specially selected personnel, with significant operational experience and a high level of training and competence.

SHG is looking for individuals who have a diploma from an aviation technical vocational school at the basic training B1 (COR) level and wish to become a professional officer. Previous military experience is not required. The employment begins with you completing the necessary training to become a fully qualified professional officer in the Armed Forces. We will develop an individual competence development plan together with you if you are offered the position. After training, you will work as a military aircraft technician at SHG in Linköping.

About the Position

As a MILITARY AIRCRAFT TECHNICIAN at SHG, you will hold the role of aircraft technician in the unit's aircraft maintenance function, which is part of the unit's Combat Service and Support (CSS) company. CSS includes several supporting functions, including aircraft maintenance, communication/IT, logistics, and fuel.

The work is varied and takes place at different tempos, situations, and environments. Your main tasks will be to perform preparation, line, and some base maintenance on helicopter 16 both nationally and internationally, during exercises and missions. In the long term, you will have the opportunity to help drive and develop the combat unit within your own function as well as in other areas.

Main Responsibilities

  • Perform preparation, line, and some base maintenance on helicopter 16 both nationally and internationally during exercises and missions.
  • Contribute to maintaining a high availability of the unit's assigned helicopters.
  • Participate in developing the combat unit and your own function.

Several other tasks will be added, and the work places very high demands on initiative, problem-solving ability, and the willingness to see and understand what needs to be done to develop the function's working methodology. The position involves maintaining readiness for national and international operations, in some cases with short notice.

Qualifications

  • Valid certificate according to EASA part 66 B1 or EMAR part 66 B1 certificate or in training.
  • Good ability to express oneself verbally and in writing in Swedish and English.
  • Approved according to FM FysS.
  • Driver's license class B.
  • Swedish citizenship.

Meritorious

  • EASA part 66 certificate B1:3.
  • EMAR part 66 certificate B1:3 or B2.
  • Type course Helicopter 16.
  • Driver's license class BE, C, CE.
  • Previously worked with or within the Armed Forces' aircraft maintenance organization.
  • Previously completed international service.

Personal Qualities

  • Service-oriented and responsible.
  • Good ability to collaborate while also being self-driven.
  • Resilient and robust with the ability to handle rapid changes.
  • Meticulous and structured.
  • Safety-conscious.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability during the selection tests.
