Special Helicopter Group (SHG)
is a special operations unit within the Swedish Armed Forces' special operations system (FMSF) located at the Helicopter Wing in Linköping. SHG's primary tasks are tactical transport, intelligence gathering, and air support. Like other units within FMSF, SHG has high demands for availability from specially selected personnel, with extensive operational experience and a high level of education and competence.
About the position
As a METEOROLOG at SHG, you will be part of the unit's staff located at the operations section, which consists of several functions. The section's main tasks are to plan, coordinate, and monitor the execution of special operations in close collaboration with other units from FMSF. In addition, the section is also responsible for planning, coordinating, and leading the unit's regular training activities.
Main responsibilities
- Collect, analyze, and communicate meteorological parameters based on the unit's and the opponent's conditions. Based on method and resource choice, convey how current weather conditions affect the operation from a tactical perspective.
- Produce, present, and follow up weather data before and during flight missions.
- Produce and present weather data for operational planning at higher staff levels.
- Service in squadron staff or a combined staff with other parts of FMSF.
- Act as a meteorologist across all arenas: sea, land, air, and space.
- Be responsible for training own units in meteorology, both nationally and internationally.

Qualifications
- Officer, OF 1-2.
- Defense meteorologist or other education deemed equivalent by the employer.
- Approved according to FM FysS.
- Driver's license class B.
- Good ability to express oneself in speech and writing in Swedish and English.
- Swedish citizenship.
Meritorious
- Previous staff experience at tactical or operational level.
- Experience regarding military aviation.
- Previous international service.
Personal qualities
You have a natural talent for organizing, prioritizing, and coordinating complex operations, even under time pressure and when conditions are inadequate or rapidly changing.
As a person, you are social and unpretentious with a great flexibility for new conditions. You have the ability to understand the overall picture and adapt to the context in which you currently operate. In selection, great importance will be placed on personal qualities and suitability.

Information about the recruitment process
Applicants for the position at SHG, who have been assessed as suitable after selection, will undergo a selection process that includes additional tests, interviews, and medical examinations.
