Special Helicopter Group (SHG) is Hiring a VEHICLE MECHANIC
The Special Helicopter Group (SHG) is a special operations unit within the Swedish Armed Forces' special operations system (FMSF), located at the Helicopter Wing in Linköping. SHG's primary tasks are tactical transport, intelligence gathering, and air support. Like other units within FMSF, SHG has high demands for availability from specially selected personnel, with extensive operational experience and a high level of training and competence.
About the Position
As a VEHICLE MECHANIC at SHG, you will be part of the unit's staff and logistics platoon at the base company. The base company includes several support functions, including security, communication/IT, logistics, and fuel.
The work is usually carried out in small groups where the ability to collaborate, attention to detail, and humility are prerequisites for the flexible working methods that permeate the operations. Primarily, you will be part of the unit's logistics function under the leadership of logistics officers and technical managers. In addition to working as a vehicle mechanic, you will also manage the squadron's other equipment such as generators, weapons, heaters, etc. Individual interests will guide your tasks. Equipment excluded from this role includes that which is part of flight technical service. Additionally, you will perform tasks such as security guard and transport services. Much of the work is done independently or in very small units. In the long term, you will have the opportunity to help drive and develop the combat unit within your own function as well as in other areas, and we encourage you to apply for specialist officer training.
Main Responsibilities
- Be part of the unit's logistics function, working as a mechanic and solving a wide range of other logistical tasks.
- Contribute to the development of the combat unit, your own company, and your own function.
Several other tasks will be added, and the work places very high demands on initiative, problem-solving ability, and the willingness to see and understand what needs to be done to develop the function's working methods. The position involves maintaining readiness for national and international operations, sometimes with short notice.
Qualifications
- Completed basic military training (GMU) or military service with approved grades.
- Good ability to express oneself in spoken and written Swedish and English.
- Approved according to FM FysS.
- Driving license class B.
- Swedish citizenship.
Meritorious
- Group leader training.
- Training in technical service at the mechanic level.
- FMEAF and similar.
- Towing training.
- ADR certificate class 1, 3, and tank.
- Driving license class CE, Military driving license CE.
- Forklift operator certificate.
- Previous international service.
Personal Qualities
- Detail-oriented and structured.
- Service-minded and responsible.
- Initiative and problem-solving ability.
- Good collaboration skills and self-sufficient.
- Resilient and robust with the ability to handle rapid changes.
- Security-conscious.
Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability during the selection tests.

Employment rate: Full-time, scheduled working hours
Work location: Linköping
Start date: By agreement
Employment form: The employment is based on the Swedish Armed Forces' collective agreement for the employment of group leaders, soldiers, and sailors (GSS/K). This may involve a 6-month probationary period and thereafter employment for up to 8 years with the possibility of extension for 4 years.
