Special Helicopter Group (SHG) - FUEL SOLDIER

The Special Helicopter Group (SHG) is a special operations unit within the Swedish Armed Forces' special operations system (FMSF) located at the Helicopter Wing in Linköping. SHG's primary tasks are tactical transport, intelligence gathering, and air support. Like other units within FMSF, SHG has high demands for availability from specially selected personnel, with extensive operational experience and high levels of training and competence.

About the Position

As a FUEL SOLDIER at SHG, you will be part of the unit's staff and logistics platoon at the base company. The base company includes several supporting functions, including security, communications/IT, logistics, and fuel.

The work is usually carried out in smaller groups where the ability to cooperate, attention to detail, and humility are prerequisites for the flexible working methods that permeate the operations. You will primarily be part of the unit's logistics function under the leadership of logistics officers. In addition to working with fuel services, you will also perform tasks such as security and transport duties. Much of the work will be carried out independently or in small units. You will support the entire unit both at the base and in the field. We hope that you will also be interested in applying for specialist officer training in the future.

Main Responsibilities

  • Be part of the unit's logistics function and, as part of a group, solve a wide range of logistical tasks with specialist competence in fuel.
  • Be part of a fuel team that supports helicopter maintenance platoons with fuel services.
  • Contribute to the development of the combat unit, your own company, and your own function.

Several other tasks will be added, and the work places very high demands on initiative, problem-solving ability, and the willingness to see and understand what needs to be done to develop the function's working methods. The position requires maintaining readiness for national and international operations, sometimes with short notice.

Qualifications

  • Completed GMU/military service with approved grades.
  • Good ability to express oneself in speech and writing in Swedish and English.
  • Approved according to FM FysS.
  • Driver's license class C or equivalent military driving license.
  • Swedish citizenship.

  • Group leader training.
  • Previous experience as a fuel soldier.
  • Training in fuel quality assurance.
  • Basic course in aviation fuel.
  • Training in ALARP, FARP, FARS.

  • Driver's license class CE, military driving license CE.
  • Forklift license.
  • Telehandler or wheel loader license.
  • Good skills in Microsoft Excel.
  • Previous international service.

Personal Qualities

  • Detail-oriented and structured.
  • Service-minded and responsible.
  • Initiative and problem-solving ability.
  • Good ability to collaborate while being self-driven.
  • Resilient and robust with the ability to handle rapid changes.
  • Safety-conscious.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability during the selection tests.
