Special Helicopter Group (SHG)

The Special Helicopter Group (SHG) is a special operations unit within the Swedish Armed Forces' special operations system (FMSF) located at the Helicopter Wing in Linköping. SHG's primary tasks are tactical transport, intelligence gathering, and air support. Like other units within FMSF, SHG has high demands for availability from specially selected personnel, with extensive operational experience and a high level of education and competence.

About the Position

The role of COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER at SHG is varied and takes place at different tempos, situations, and environments. Your main tasks will be to support the unit with communication/IT capabilities. You will help maintain the unit's various command support systems, assist with signal protection services, train in the unit's various communication systems, and be an integral part of planning and follow-up of missions, etc. Over time, you will be able to deepen and develop your skills in various special areas. Travel within and outside Sweden occurs frequently in daily service.

Main Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for the unit's command support systems.
  • Be responsible for the unit's mobile command support capabilities and platforms.
  • Be responsible for and train on the unit's radio equipment.
  • Assist with signal protection services.

A number of additional tasks will be added, and the work places very high demands on initiative, problem-solving ability, and the willingness to see and understand what needs to be done to develop the function's working methodology. The position involves maintaining readiness for national and international operations, sometimes with short notice.

Qualifications

  • Specialist officer, SO 6-7.
  • Good and documented knowledge in technology (IT, communication, radio).
  • Good ability to express oneself verbally and in writing in Swedish and English.
  • Driver's license class B.
  • Approved in FM FysS.
  • Swedish citizenship.

Meritorious

  • Specialist officer training with a focus on command/communication at LedSS or electro at FMTS.
  • Completed at least one year in a position within command/communication in the Armed Forces.
  • Signal protection teacher/leader.
  • Driver's license class BE, C, CE.
  • Military driving license.
  • Previously completed international service.

Information about the Recruitment Process
